In persona 4 golden, Yosuke is the first one to get his persona. He’s also historically had quite a bit of controversy, so today I want to address everything about him I can.

Okay! We are officially into the main character segments! This is a weird one if I'm honest- due to Yosuke's polarizing nature and what I think it factual, I'm afraid irrational Yosuke Haters as well as homophobes may be irritated by parts of this video. I'm caught between two opposing groups I'm afraid. I hope at least my perspective will get across here and maybe help people understand Yosuke differently than they did before.

After completing the game recently, yosuke has been and will always be my favorite p4 character. I commend him for staying strong and positive with all the hate he endures in inaba. I don’t get how people can hate him like he’s literally one of the most fun and nicest person you meet In the game. Most of his hate is from him being the managers son of a superstore that’s taking business away from them, most local shops can’t compare to a company. the business world isn’t easy , there’s always gonna be competition that’s why you have to think of alternatives to combat your problems. His family got bills to pay , they gotta eat and survive somehow.
One thing, on your charts, you forgot Yu. There's a lot of places in the game to tease Youske as Yu

Honestly yosuke gets way too much flag for teasing kanji. 2008 were different times and yosuke is a young teenager. Just ask yourself if you would have been comfortable sleeping with a guy in the same tent you suspect to be gay at the Age of 14-15. yosuke clearly dosnt want to hurt kanji but he also cant just ignore his thoughts and that he is not a 100% comfortable around kanji. Thats why he turns to humor or strange remarks. Also to the creator a little feedback: maybe you should dial back on some of your harsh words. Signing them up for beauty contest sure is not gentlemanlike but it is far from what i would call disgusting behavior. Friends can tease each other and put each other through tuff. I would argue Teddy,Kanji and Chie are even harder on yosuke than he is on them sometimes.

My personal favourite quote from yusuke is the confrontation with adachi: "If we leave you here dying and a dead body eventually appears, then what? What does that accomplish for anyone? Your stupid game's over. We're taking you back. Live and face your punishment… that's how it works in our world."
The deep seething anger he's feeling shows through in how he speaks but I can hear the triumph in it too.
This isn't a criticism of the video or anything, but I found it super funny when I read the chart mega wrong *first*. So here I was, thinking that rows were character actions towards the columns… It is funny to imagine Rise being the one infatuated with Yosuke instead of the other way around, and funnily fitting seeing Teddie apparently dehumanizing at least half the cast.
My shipping heart died a little bit though when I read Naoto's row and then realized it was the wrong way around…

I really enjoy this look on Yosuke, I never gave the more sleazy things much thought because he didn't seem really malicious (teasing, sometimes crossing the line but not evil.) Thanks for your great insights!
I will be honest Yosuke's homophobia upset me a lot. After the camp scene I just full out pretended he did not exist. As someone who is gay myself I have had the exact things he said done to me. It made me really uncomfortable and brought back bad memories. But I appreciate your video in helping me have a more full view of the character and if I do another playthrough I'll try to keep a more open mind.
