The game is called over the line. Got to hit the ball on the fly over the line, if it lands over the line and in fair territory without the fielders catching it, it’s a hit. If it’s caught or doesn’t carry the line, it’s an out. If you hit a foul ball you get one more try. Once you get 2 hits in an inning, every hit after that is a run. A home run is anything past the last fielder wherever they are. Home runs clear the “bases” scoring a run for each plus the batter.

You can pitch from wherever you want, and however you want. Most beginners pitch softtoss and swing like baseball. Advanced players have more of a golf/cricket swing to hit the corners. We use an official otl ball made by debeer (or a 16 inch clincher if playing on grass), and wooden softball bats (or metal is playing on grass). The field is 55ft from from the plate, and 55 ft wide. Sidelines extend forever.

This year will be the 72nd annual world championship, where hundreds of teams compete over two weekends in July at fiesta island, San Diego. The tournament is two weekends long. It’s famous for its out of pocket team names and party atmosphere.
