  1. you know what i've missed about the SnS? moving while attacking, from WorldBorne. why they removed it in SunRise is beyond me, but i didn't like that choice. and now i'm glad it's back – now don't remove it again, Capcom.

but one thing about SunRise i did appreciate was the addition of the "final blow" of the Perfect Rush: you have a choice between a mere sword slash, bonking the head with the shield, or plunging the sword into the monster like Link from Twilight Princess.

i personally use that last one, as it actually feels like a final blow for a SnS combo (no offense to those who prefer the shield bonk).

side note : i want to talk about Oils, for fun.
i'm just confused about 2 the ones we got in GU: Stamina Oil? Mind's Eye Oil?
don't get me wrong, they have a use… but how does that realistically work? because the way i see it, that's jumping the Zamtrios/Plesioth, even for Monster Hunter.
how does an oil exhaust a monster, or increase the likelyhood of knocking it down? how does that work? how does an oil help retain sharpness, but only when the weapon hits a spot where it would normally bounce off? wouldn't it make a tad more sense to have the effect be to not lose sharpness for a limited amount of time?

irl, oil was used to – basically put – preserve sharpness and prolong the blade's lifespan. that said, i say Oils should restore a certain amount of Sharpness. let me pitch my idea for oils.
    – Affinity Oil: same effect. restores 10% Sharpness.
    – Destroyer Oil: acts like Partbreaker 2. restores 10% Sharpness.
    – Hunting Oil (for a lack of a better name): a combo of Destroyer and Mind's Eye oils, with the effects of 20% Affinity and Partbreaker 1. restores 15% Sharpness.
    – Sharpness Oil: prevents loss of Sharpness no matter what, for 1 minute. restores 25% Sharpness.
to compensate for how OP those Oils presumably are, you can only carry 2 per Oil type.

  2. I feel like lbg is just strictly worse in wilds. You only get 1 mine instead of 3 so unless they uber upped the dmg, that ability just lost 66% of its dmg. Also, since you can't rapid fire without the gauge, you wind up in a weird situation. Either the rapid fire has 100% uptime, rendering the gauge meaningless, or it's not 100% uptime and rapid fire is just objectively worse than previous gens. No cool new super attacks, no cinematic offsets or guard clashes with monsters. I'm just not seeing what I have to look forward to.

  3. wait what! insect glaive can no longer stay in the air?? oh man… this weapon was my baby in world, my first ever monster hunter.. it made it SO fun and less challenging for me. just staying in the air avoiding so many attacks basically for free..
getting the buffs super fast now sounds great, but now im just playing a les mobile dual swords?

  4. Insect Glaive got reworked to be more about doing combos with the Kinsect rather than having it be a minor part of the weapon. You can still follow a something into the air so it's still good for that, just means you can't stay in the air. I'm fine with this trade off, helicoptering is fun but the weapon still seems to have plenty of moves that send you into the air.
