  1. Just wanted to add this tidbit on the Volatile, although not great for infecting but eviscerating non-infected individuals. In DL2 you are bit by one (obviously) and survive albeit a super rare chance. But did you know that they will stalk and sometimes kidnap humans (early stages or healthy) and take them to "The Flesh-pits" as I call them (that's what is at the center of the Volatile hives).

  2. Clotter? Vicious Butcher is so much worse…

Bulletproof, agile, sneaky, can heal itself, immune to some weapons, immune to some elements, smart, have thorns effect…

Even a Mutator is easier to take down…

    Clotter is just annoying…

  3. To the zombie/infected undying debate: Zombie is a metonymy for the whole archetype. Yes, you can be specific and distinguish between undead and infected, but at the end of the day there isn't a rigid definition for zombies in the same way there isn't a rigid definition of vampires, werewolves, ghosts, dragons, fae, etc, there are only mythological creatures that have a traits and some of the traits are common with each other. As such, something can have the traits of a vampire and a zombie (Jiangshi) or a vampire and a werewolf (Vrykolakas), for instance.
So yes, infected are zombies in a broad sense and the distinction should be made only if relevant to the discussion.

  4. A point to make about lickers is that they are theorized to be the re-reanimated corpses of zombies, because in RE1, zombies killed would eventually revive as crimson heads, the virus digesting the skin to repair the body(giving them a crimson look), despite being zombies^2, they are much stronger, faster, and aggressive than regular zombies, and most notably possessed clawed hands

So, the thesis is that after their 2nd death, a zombie becomes a crimson walker, and either dies a 3rd time, or simply keeps mutating as their body is steadily undone and remade, eventually becoming a licker which are highly aggressive and speedy, but as part of undergoing the crimson mutation, parts had to be cannibalized to provide the energy and mass necessary for the rearranging of its anatomy, this being all of the skin, the eyes, bone, and muscle(giving them a more dog-like torso)

So despite never being brought back in future titles(at least to my knowledge), it’s in the implications that any zombie killed without mutilation, dismemberment, or total bodily destruction, becomes a crimson and then further mutates into a licker

This then also means that even as they viciously maul victims, unless they dismember, decapitate, or eat the body, the victim will reanimate as a crimson head already instead of as a standard zombie, already setting them up to become a new licker

  5. Unrelated for the most part, but I think a look at the Point and Click series "The Saggitarian" would be kind of cool. It's definitely more comedic in tone, not explaining why they have literal exploding zombies, but their special infected roster is still somewhat interesting.

  6. Road of the dead 2 Alpha mutant solo's Everyone here. HELLA DURABLE, can outrun vehicles, can junp great lenghts, can lead other zombies and mutant zombies, bullet resistant skull with a hardened muscle mass making it EXTREMELY strong as well. People say the alpha mutant can tear through reinforced bumper's AND STILL cling to the hood😮

  7. Here’s a thought: the cordyceps fungus doesn’t touch the brain or feed on the host while also having fungus spreading underneath the skin all over the body so the zombies in the last of us should be almost immortal

  8. I believe the PvZ franchise alone is one of the deadliest zombie types out there. The garden warfare and PvZ heroes games alone have zombies that topple anything on this list, besides some CoD creatures

  9. Cataclysm's Zombie Hulk is essentially Left 4 Dead's Tank with none of the weaknesses. In particular, it is alarmingly fast for a corpse "the size of six men" and has the strength to bash through brick walls like they're nothing. The general advice of the playerbase is to not go anywhere near one unless you are packing serious heat and even then it might not work. This isn't even getting into its subvariants like the Kevlar Hulk and the Skeletal Juggernaut.

Honestly, Cataclysm's zombies have so many variants you could probably make a list all about them alone.

  10. PvZ especially the gw2 verse solos all these zombie verses
lemme tell you why, first off the zombies have an infinite number of gargantuars and special zombies like foot soldier, scientist, imp, and with that being said imagine an infinite number of little babies with automatic laser guns which can be reloaded in an instant
If that’s not enough for you, the zombies are able to defeat all powerful gnome gods who literally rule time and space, they have literally been there for infinity
the gnomes are so broken yet the zombies n plants are able to defeat them with MECHS
so yeah gw2 verse solos any zombie verse

  11. I wonder… Let's suppose the virus that causes the volatiles infected a very vampiric human, one that had to gain UV resistance mutations by itself, and that has, by its own… Natural monstruosity, a GOOD chance to stay sentient, sapient and already have overcome one or more addictions, let's say… The desire for blood and the one for nicotine…

That thing would be a 12/10 danger level. Good thing the virus has not infected such a host in "Dying Light", because it would lead to the infected inficting the virus too.

  12. I would say volatiles would take first place simply because of the adaptability. You can notice the changes from DL1s volatile to DL2s volatile with 2s regular variants being as armored as DL1s elite volatiles so who's to say UV will be effective against them forever? Especially given the reverse engineering of the Harran virus to THV probably causing unknown effects to possibly mutate faster or in more extreme ways given that there's electric, fire and poison variants of demolishers now (all though those were for quests mainly).

  13. volatiles definitely take #1 from the sheer fact that there are multiple of them and not just multiple of them but MANY of them. I don't even think the rat king should be on the list as from what we know in the game there might possibly be only one of them in exsistence as they may need very specific circumstances to form let alone at least 20 years.

  14. You are right about the one man army factor of the ratking, but in that case volatiles are No1 even with rat king being out there, volatiles are a pack, sure rat king its tanky af, but volatiles can tear you apart in the night they are literally hundres trying to kill you at once, of course they have their limitations as you said, but at the end their effectiveness of killing and infecting are more than impressive
