  1. While I do quite like the Lucrehulk, it always was a refitted super freighter and never built to actually be a warship. At best a carrier.

Munificents and Recusants to me were built to be pirate killers and escorts, but never designed for the purpose of a galactic war.

The Providence to me from the Quarren were true warships, Star Cruisers or Star Destroyers, built for a near peer war with any galactic power. And honestly could have been the starting point for the CIS to build a proper warfleet rather then relying on retrofitted and re-purposed corporate vessels. They are frankly not so different then their cousins the Mon Calamari Star Cruisers used later by the Rebel Alliance.

  2. Great video guys! The CIS has always been my favourite faction so please please please do more videos like this one, perhaps covering their ground vehicles and the like 😀

  3. So the ideal CIS fleet would be to have a Lucrehulk in the middle, a few munificents behind it because this way the Lucrehulk will shields the munificents while they can shoot at long range targets. Have a few Recusants sit in front of the Lucrehulk because of their anti fighter weaponry, and then have the Providence in the front of the fleet.

  4. Yeah, the Lucrehulk of course! Hell, if I had been any Jedi after the clone wars I'd have tried to get my hands on a few of these – why? Well, a mobile academy that can if need be taken on several ISD (while of course not seeking a confrontation!)? Yeah, what's not to like, hell, at best bolt several together to make an even more well shielded ship (stack them like Donuts on top of each other!) 🙂
Not to mention that if you remove a lot of stuff, you can surely become self-sufficient with a ship like that, so the empire can't easily find you, if you stick to systems away from the core!

  6. This video was an eye opener. Although I'm a big fan of star wars, I don't dwell deep into the lore, not without these channels help. Had the clone wars been fought by two truly adversarial sides, the cis would have wiped the republic off the map. In my opinion, regardless of the quality of republic vessels, they just couldn't hope to match the sheer amount of ships and firepower the cis produced.

  7. I'd argue the Providence is far more effective. There were two variants of it and the larger version could hold off three Venators. Admiral Trench easily showed how devastating a single ship could be, unfortunately he crossed paths with Anakin twice.

  8. The provenance-class destroyer (particularly the invisible-hand) will always be my favorite ships cause grievous was seen on them and the malevolence was the true predecessor of the invisible-hand.

  9. Y'know turning a freighter's cargo bay into an insanely sized hangar certainly does has it upsides even if it does mean a vulnerable interior.

It also made a lot of sense for the Separatists to make cheap but deadly ships. The 'glass cannon' approach to designs works on the basis that you can deal a lot more damage than you receive even if you lose the ship. Since Separatist ships were cheap anyway, focusing on offence made sure they could win with attrition due to the republic navy being so expensive to procure and maintain.

  10. Lucrehulks for my money are some of the best ships out there for what they are; monsters in terms of transport capacity, brutes in terms of firepower and bastions in terms of shielding. If I wanted to blockade a planet or take it on the ground, I could park one of these in system with a few of the lighter ships in support and mostly call the system secure. If one could keep up with more modern ISDs I could see those making for a terribly dangerous fleet needing only the addition of an interdiction field to be complete.
I cannot help but wonder what a "super" Lucrehulk could have been.

  11. It's like you said there all cool but I like the munificent, Providence, and the lucrahulk the lucrahulk like you said could take a beating and republic fighters would have to be inside the vessel if they wanted to take it out awesome video though 10/10.

  12. Guess I'd have to go with the lucrehulk. Mainly because I always liked how imposing it looked, and how it had a completely different design from most other Star Wars vessels – more like a mobile space fortress than a ship. And, well, I kinda don't like the designs of the other CIS ships, to be honest.

  13. Luker hulk is a crazy ship rather mobile station And 1500 fighters is only a standard capacity when it would be fully loaded only with different fighters

  14. Honestly, the CIS fleet is probably the greatest fleet in the history of Star Wars. The only reason the Republic lost cause Palps was micro-managing both sides. People say "Why didn't the Rebs use Venators?" Screw that, one Lucrehulk and you could fit the entire Alliance in one, movable, heavily-armed floating base. It would need to be kept away from direct battle at all costs, but it would've made for a fantastic mobile base the Hyperdrive-equipped Rebel starfighters could operate from.
All that having been said, finding the manpower and fuel for that thing would've been a nightmare.

  15. I disagree on the weakpoint of the lucrehulk.

First Anakin had way superior reflexes even for a force affinitive, also rushing through tight confined space with break neck speeds was his hobby.

Second, the CIS made a major opsec fail, because Anakin passed several wide open blast doors. if they were closed or at least partially closed, it would be much harder for anakin and basically impossible for a normal pilot, to get to the reactor without crash and burn.

  16. I think an ideal Separatist fleet comp is 1 Lucrehulk, 2 Providences and 5+ Munificents. Lucrehulk and Providences should actually be at the front to take advantage of their durability, while Munificents maneuver into position and use their mega cannons to overwhelm single target after single target, to steadily cut down the damage of the opposing side and prevent the frontline from being overwhelmed.

  17. To be honest I think Vultures are the most well thought thing they made. Litterally they could just sit under the ships shields on it's hull and there wasn't any need for hangars. (minus times when repair was needed)

  18. A cis battleship in and of itself was just a powerhouse of firepower, not only from ifs weapons but also its compliment of droid fights where on average it would take two venators just to take out one cis battleship and not only that but the munificent class cruisers also helped with being a decent all rounder from its heavy frontal cannons to its anti starfigher capabilities as well as its compliment of droid fighters where a republic pilot would be having to kill five droid fighters just to even the playing field, and granted clone pilots were superior to their droid counterparts in terms of combat effectiveness, however droids are more capable at sharper turning as well as their expend ability where it’s a major blow to lose say one highly skilled clone pilot vs the combined loss of five vultures and again when it came to ship to ship combat, the cis had the versatility to deal with most problems, be it bombing missions, ship to ship brawls, long range fire support, or as fleet escorts where they’re individually capable of working either as an individual or part of a much larger fleet, vs the republic which mostly relied on the venators or consulor corvette or the arqutans cruisers, however most republic fleets mostly just consisted of venators

  19. Good to see my favourite faction getting some love! Always loved the separatist fleet and army, so many get too caught up on the fact they lose they forget plot armour and sith involvement kneecap what arguably is the strongest faction in terms of fleet diversity and force projection. Love your content!

  20. Providence is better as it dedicated warship and have modular construction. Its bigger dreadnought variant can do the Lucrehulk job. The reason is that the in its core Lucrehulk is a civilian ship, no matter how much armor and weapons you put on it, you cant change the structure which wasnt made to survive heavy fire or to support large amounts of weapons

  21. I wish the Republic Navy had more ships… The Republic Navy sure likes to reuse the same ship designs every time. It's either all Acclamator class assault ships or Venator class star destroyers. Both of which aren't exactly made for true ship to ship combat… Considering how one's a carrier, ment to be in the rear of the fleet instead of enaging in slugfests with other ships. And the other is practically a transport ship. During the battle of Christophsis, the Venators struggled to break the Separatist's blockade.
