Outside of video games, if what I remember reading is correct, the walls and the doors providing entrance make up a room. Looking back in time, the 'Hall' was the main center of a home, and in very basic houses that is all there was. As we made homes more complicated, we added dividers and designated separate rooms, the liminal space between these rooms and the hall, being the hallway. Two rooms only connected through a door, messes with the laws of reality and should probably be avoided
I thought this was going to be a "Is Oryx in the front or back of the room" discussion
As someone who is playing this game and did this raid "a door is the gateway between two areas. Shut up and stop making it complicated"
Stop playing destiny 2, it makes ya argure about doors π
Every time it seems like he has a sensible ordinary human take Pat has to find some way to turn it insane
Pat's right, I stopped playing D2 and my life measurably improved
Them showing a screenshot of what theyβre talking about is like that one NPC in Elden Ring that actually marks a quest on your map
Either way, if you were told to look for something in a room, and your first thought is to look at the door, you're fucking crazy.
What a weird questionβ¦
There is only one door in The Room by Tommy Wiseau and it is the transitional space by which actors enter and leave a scene
A door is a part of the wall that I can choose to open, and then I close my door and it returns to being my wall
Ok who ever gave my dude those directions probably uses a GPS for directions to a exact point and never raises their head to look if they are actually on the right street…
There are zero doors in the picture this guy posted. There is one doorway, and a horizontal, multi-staged ramp that leads to another section of the map. Wooie's right, use better English.
"Life has many doors Ed-boy"
I think this calls for more simplistic questions so we can see just how long it takes for them to get into a full on screaming match
Edit: such as woolie vs ghost
This argument is more assanine than the "Is Oryx in the front or the back of the room" one. Peak D2.
A door is literally NOT a liminal space woolie
I cheered when Pat said stop playing D2.
Consider the following.
The door, exists in NO ROOMS. It instead exists in a separated space, indicated by the door frame known as A FUCKING DOORWAY
Doors being part of rooms or not aside, whoever told that guy it's "in the room" when it was in the doorway and got mad that the guy got confused is a dick
I love how immediately divisive this issue is. Like, the second they understood each other's stance they started fighting with HEAT π
A door is a part of a wall that can be opened, but isn't the wall itself. A door isn't part of any room, its part of a wall that's part of a room. A door can exist itself without a wall, thus no room, but exists for the purpose of a wall, but not for the room, the wall exists for the room.
A prisoner can be in a 6 walled room being full, bars, fense, etc., but the door is just for the wall. An entire wall being a door isn't a door, hallway, corridor or doorway, its a passageway.
"Look for something in the center room"
This instruction doesn't make me think to look for a door or doorway aside from just as a way to enter the room being spoken of.
Today I learned my best friend sent a screenshot of our argument into CSB
Love you Duke <3
So….Destiny is so mind bogglingly boring the people playing it would rather talk about doors than play the game…
A door is a part of the gotdamn WALL
Boondocks chair bit type of discussion
Is this the new cereal vs soup debate?
Doors are hallways that are shorter than 1 foot. Bam.
I hope people DONT d!e debating doors. That would be so stupid.
Yeah, if you can get picked off in an FPS looking out of a room, itβs a door(way).
That gotta be one of the dumbest discussions to have ever.
i still don't understand the scenario and the screenshot didn't help, however pat is right. stop playing destiny.
These are the debates the ancient greeks would go ape shit over. And I'm here for it. Just sad that Plato would have suplexed pat to Hades years ago…
But Pat, I've been playing Destiny 2 for over 4000 hours (ps. It's not a cry for help if I like it here)
So if a person is beneath a door frame, can they be considered to be in both rooms, or only if they swing both ways?
I feel like Pat thinks his content is "Funny like I'm a clown kind of funny", but he has genuine comedic talent.
I had just gotten over my 3 day headache, and this bs question brought it back. Thanks
Pat doing his best King Solomon cosplay.
So the walls are part of the room, and are split evenly between rooms.
The doorWAY is part of the wall and thus also split 50/50.
But the swinging door is furniture. It's not part of either room.
