  2. ONLY YOU, YAA RABB, CAN SAVE US

    A poem by Mohammed Ghassani

Translated from Kiswahili by Nathalie Arnold

Yaa Rabb, the decision is Yours and Yours alone

If it’s Your will to save us, You can.

Yes, wretched and weakened we are

But being Your servants, our hopes fastened on You.

Only on Your power we rely to save us from this calamity.

See how those to whom You’ve given the world are gathered to consume us!

Abused, we turn to You, Yaa Rabb

    We come to You weeping.

We’ve buried enough bodies, the children You blessed us with.

We have nowhere to turn and nothing to grasp but Your holy rope.

What can deliver us from the powers of darkness, if not Your Sovereignty?

True strength, unconquerable power, belongs to You, who are peerless.

Send them back to where they came from, failed be their projects.

Let them not harm Your servants.

As You saved Moses from Pharaoh, save those who serve You.

By Your grace, extinguish the fire that falls from the sky

May their bombs become ruined eggs!

Fire descends every hour and minute

The burning logs constantly aimed at us.

But as You did for Abraham, Your noble servant, do to us.

You issued your decree: “Die out!”

And the flames died, and your Prophet was saved

Your servant, protected, kept safe, was not singed!

Yaa Rabb, when all their bombs have fallen –

And on foot they come to us,

    Send down your protection.

Even if Aburaha al Ashram, set on destroying your House, were among them.

Let them never return to where they set out from, may they never know home again.

And may those they left behind never recall them, not by name or deed!

We have nowhere else to turn, none to beseech but You, Yaa Rabb.

Overpowered we are, fenced in by this Prison. They do anything they want to us.

And yet, through Your Victory, Your servant Joseph was freed.

If it be Your will, we, too, will escape, as it was in the Beginning!

Victory is Yours, Yaa Rabb, You grant it to whom You wish, at the moment that You choose.

You even allow Your enemies to get up from the ground according to their stature.

But they cannot escape Your Hand.

Where are the people of Thamudi today?

And the Adis and their kins, and Nimrod?

Your Powerful Hand destroyed them, all!

    Hasbunallah, wane'emal wakeel!

  4. Sheikh Hisham has not been his happy, bubbly self lately. May allah help our ummah and bring the smile back on all our faces in every Muslim in every place. Ameen. I can only assume the sadness of Palestine and the ummah is what has bought him down. We love Sheikh Hisham's smile and his normal happy self. You make us all happy, when your happy and bring a smile to our face. Tell sheikh Hisham not to stop smiling and laughing, it is Sunnah! So he needs to bring back the happy Sheikh next fajr reflection, Allah knows we all need some happiness in these times.
