Midway on June 4, 1942 was a decisive battle of the Pacific War. Lt. Richard Best is in Squadron Six(VB-6) of the USS Enterprise Air flying an SBD Dauntless bomber. The Americans are going up against the mighty Japanese fleet also known as the Kidō Butai. On this day, Best and his SBD Dauntless will take part in the sinking of 2 of the 4 Japanese carriers lost in the battle. The Akagi went down as a result of Best’s accurate bomb drop and his was one of four bombs that saw the end of the Hiryū. The loss of these ships was a shattering blow for the Japanese High Command

  1. All of our vets that fought in WW2 are all heros! The sacrifices they made, were for us and our country. 80% of them were kids, just 17 and older. They fought two countries at once in one big war, and won. On the ground, in the air, and in the sea. And the technology was nothing like we have today. 🙏 🇺🇸 ❤️

  2. The out of place ship that lead the initial bomber flights to the Kido Butai was the destroyer Arashi. Arashi was depth charging USS Nautilus which had sighted the Kido Butai and launched a torpedo attack that was "Unsuccessful".

  3. Why don’t they mention the sinking of CV-5 Yorktown? Is it because it’s from the U.S. military’s perspective? The Japanese aircraft carrier Hiryū, under the command of the skilled leader Tamon Yamaguchi, managed to strike back at the Yorktown. I think this is also an important factor. It might make it seem like they were taken out one-sidedly.

  4. Just watched the 2019 movie, the acting was horrific save for a few, like Woody Harrelson and the other few I can’t remember their names. But the visuals were insanely good. Would have been a way better film if the acting was on point. Dick Best was awesome in the movie, and really cocky, until the 3rd act.
