When a Tailgunner and Sabotage Saved a B-17

It’s July 30th 1943 in the skies over Germany and a B-17 named Tondelayo is under attack. In the back is tailgunner Michael L Arooth. Mike as he is known to the crew is ready as the German Me 109s and FW190s come in.. Sometimes 4 at a time. Mike fires away at the mass of German fighters as do the rest of the formation as today there are 186 Flying fortresses and 123 P-47 Thunderbolts in a raid upon German factories.
Getting hit by heavy fire, many of the crew bail. Mike fought on battling the Germans and lack of oxygen. In the end though the plane would have been brought down if it weren’t for the actions of an unknown munitions worker who was forced to work for the Germans.

  1. And that Czech worker got to ensure their country would be under Soviet control – directly or indirectly – for another 50 years. I wonder if they survived to see that end too.

Great job on this. The storytelling and voice acting have really improved.

  3. That check prisoner didn't survive the war but he gave a great gift to 10 it makes me believe he might have been Jewish 11 bullets that should have wiped them out where deliberate duds and whoever it was saved 10 lives, In Judaism these numbers have a special significance, 11 is the significance of where God and man meet, 10 is the number where God stands alone and it takes 10 men in order to make one group validates Jewish praye exactly certain if I'm using the right words and I'm using voice-to-text which can be a problem hands don't work my eyes barely work and my speech is not what it used to be.

  4. The name stood for "Tom, Delay O." Onions were not something I enjoyed until much later in life. Now I can't stop cooking with them. So coincidentally, that's my plane.

  9. Struggling to believe this one. Dummy shells containing a message on a rolled up bit of paper were found inside the fuel tank of a B17. Well, thanks for the nonsense.

  10. you wont believe this, but i know the GrandChild of the person that sabotaged those shells. i will not give any names however, due to not asking them if it is ok.
it was a Woman, and she was indeed forced to produce Ammo for the German Airforce's 20mm's and 15mm's. but their Quality Control was non-existant due to them being INCREDIBLY cocky in their belief that not a single soul would DARE defy the 3rd Reich, to which they were obviously VERY wrong lol. she is however sadly dead now. she died 5 years ago at an age of 93.
may she rest in peace, knowing she saved lives with her incredible sabotage work.
