What’s the closest you’ve ever come to death, and how did you survive?
I was driving late at night on a mountain road, trying to get home after a long day. The road was narrow, winding, and completely deserted. As I rounded a sharp bend, my brakes suddenly stopped working. The car started speeding down the slope, and I could see the cliff’s edge getting closer and closer. My heart was pounding, and I thought, “This is it. I’m not going to make it.” There was nothing but a drop into darkness ahead of me. Out of pure instinct, I pulled the emergency brake and swerved into the side of the mountain. The car slammed into the rocky hillside and stopped just feet from the edge. I sat there, shaking, trying to process what had just happened. If I hadn’t acted in that split second, I wouldn’t be here today. To this day, every time I drive on that road, I think about how close I came to not making it out alive.
