Avatar: The Way of Water end son one heck of a cliffhanger. Quaritch is alive, and the na’vi are about to go to war with the human race. We have some theories on how this is going to go down I the sequel, and especially how Quaritch and Kira will save the day.

Now there is definitely going to be an avatar 3, because it was filmed simultaneously with the way of water. James Cameron originally wanted to make 4 sequels to Avatar, but said that 3 is written to be a possible ending to the story, for two reasons. One, he said that way of water will need to be the 3rd or 4th highest-grossing film of all time to show a profit. And two, he literally said, “the question is, how many people give a shit now.”
The James Cameron press tour for this movie has been chef’s kiss. [play a clip.]
Cameron also told Collider that the studio had no notes on the draft of part four…except for the words, “holy fuck.” And producer Jon Landau told Screen Rant, “each sequel will take us to new places.”
So we’ve seen the rainforest of Pandora and people who live in the Pandoran equivalent of the south pacific. So theoretically the sequels would show us a desert region, or a polar cap religion–all very exciting.
And of course, we also know the characters from the Way of Water who will be continuing on–spoiler alert–like Quaritch, Jake, Neytiri, and most of the Sullys. [the wrong kid died].
That’s what we know–so now let’s get into wild speculation and theories. And I have what I think is a pretty strong guess about what’s coming next. First I’m going to talk about the larger story all the movies are going to tell, then I’m going to take some guesses about where the characters’ journeys will take them–and the impact they’ll have on the final story.
So, big picture, the Na’vi are screwed. In the first movie, the only thing at stake for the humans was a valuable mine. You could see them cutting their losses and saying it wasn’t worth the trouble. But in the Way of Water, we learned that the humans aren’t on Pandora for a science mission, or to find minerals–they are bent on full-on occupation and conquest.
Earth’s resources have bee––n used up, the planet is uninhabitable, and now for humanity, it’s Pandora or bust. So there is no way the sky people will let up, because either survival is at stake. Well, there are a few reasons they would choose to leave Pandora that I’ll go over in a bit.

There’s also a substance on this planet that literally stops human aging. So human beings would kill every space whale in the universe if it made them into an immortal Brad Pitt. [fight club, selling fat asses back to them]. We saw in this movie that humans are not interested in scientific discovery or exploration–they just want to use Pandora to support their extravagant lifestyles.
The first major human colony on Pandora is called Bridgehead City. And a Bridgehead is a strong position inside enemy territory that is used for staging further attacks. So just by its name, we learn that this is the first position of a larger attacking force. Like Jake warned the na’vi chief here [DWW, how many, like the stars].
In fact, there are 13 other moons orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus. If any of those are habitable, humans may conquer those as well. And then they could use this alpha Centauri network of bases as a staging ground for more extra-solar conquest.
And since the humans in Avatar behave like the Terran empire in Star Trek’s mirror verse, this would be very bad news for the rest of the galaxy. So it’s vital that the na’vi on Pandora stop human expansion before it can start.
But like I said, the na’vi are basically screwed. Historically, when a more technologically advanced force encounters a less-developed society, it doesn’t turn out well for the natives. History is filled with accounts of Europeans slaughtering and conquering other nations with their advanced weaponry and artillery. But if you go back even further, the first ape to use a bone as a weapon condemned other tribes to die of thirst [2001 broll].
The point is, history is not on the side of the Na’vi. For the most part, human history has proven that if you don’t adopt advanced technology, then your people suffer and die. And, as we’ve seen, the Na’vi won’t change their way of life–though they have started using human weapons at the start of the movie.

I developed a raging stomach ache after eating the AMC popcorn 🍿 😩 🤢🤮. So I missed the ending. I left at the time when Neytiri had grabbed Spider to get Kiri released. Hopefully I'll see the end on streaming later, (really don't want to sit thru the entire movie again.) Thanks for this video!
#5 Your Mom
I have a few theories as well. One of them is that at some point I would expect the humans to consider Eywa as a resource – like a giant supercomputer that could be used for profit and then the fight of the people on Pandora would literally be to protect the consciousness of their planet and the history of all the people who lived there. This would basically raise the stakes even more and lead to an epic finale.
Realistically though I think it all depends if they will make only a 3rd movie or also a 4 and 5 because since the third one is already halfway finished, they could not do a lot of plot changes there, so it certainly will be a story that works well either by ending after that movie (so it can lead up to a grand finale) but also to allow future sequels (not leading up to a grand finale yet but instead to a partial victory). I think also the involvement of Earth will depend on the number of sequels. I think if they have 3 more movies, they can have the time to tell stories about earth. But as it is they will have their hands full for part three with Pandora and Quaritchs arc and the whole ocean protection thing.
Overall I would expect two major endings in the whole series. One would be that the humans are stopped from damaging Pandora – either by leaving or by adapting. Possibly they will actually really be able to settle on one of the other moons that is uninhabited and be in peace somehow (but they will have to have learnt from Pandora, otherwise they would just keep being an evil neighbor). And the other is that ideally the whole action on Pandora will come back to Earth somehow. Like humans and the indigenous culture get together and bring something to Earth that can make Earth healthy again and make her conscious (again?). And since the whole movies are based on physical representations of connections and spirituality, I dont think what will come back could only be an idea – it would be something physical – like seeds.
The overall story has to be that the people who defend like win against those who bring death and the happy ending would be that everyone will be able to enjoy life again, so they have to beat RDA and save Pandora as well as the people (and nature) of earth.
I wonder if Spider will get a Navi body eventually or if he will in turn be something like the first human to be part of a new way for humans to actually also connect to the planet and nature
I really would have expected that they would have hinted a bit more about Quaritch connecting to Pandora. Like something a bit more than save his son. Like visibly feeling something unexpected when connecting to the animals. I would totally expect that directly connecting to an animal like they do on Pandora would be an awakening, even if the humans would probably not admit it at the time. So my favourite imaginary deleted scene is Quaritch connecting to the Ikran and then the camera zoome in on his eyes which go wide with wonder and later on when no one is looking he gives the animal a soft stroke – but in front of the other humans and in his action he totally remains the evil guy for now.
Anything could happen but a theory of mine is the humans begin some type of mining operations, causing a global warming like effect on Pandora. This will obviously gain the attention of the remaining tribes on Pandora further helping Jakes cause as he travels around Pandora spreading awareness of the humans and how he intends to unite everyone for a final showdown against the humans
So Sigourney Weaver is like N’avi Jesus?
Avatar 2 will breakeven at $1B, anything more than that is gravy. I see Quaritch having a Wenwu like moment in one of the sequels.
Great theories. Fun to think about while we wait for part 3.
What bothered me about this whole let's collect whales brain liquid that makes human immortal is two things: How did they found it in the first place? RDA Hells Gate was all about mining the unobtanium (which made a lot of sense) and did not explored the ocean that much. Did they figured it out in merely a year they were present on Pandora after the return? Second Ok they killed one whale and found out this Amricia substance that stops aging in mammals I guess they brought some mice to test it on. You would still need like 2-3 years to found out that amricia makes mice immortal, way before the human trials. But it gets worse, you have a substance that have this amazing properties on the human body why don't they mass spec it's composition and the protein sequence? We can easily do it nowadays. Then you doon't have to bother with this very expensive operation to kill the whales and collect it. You don't even need to ship the stuff to earth, just beam the formula for synthesis in the Earth labs. Not that it would really help earth that much since the overpopulation and resource depletion making it a dying planet. It also could make the story of the movies stronger and more compelling, that humans only need one whale to study the formula. Let's say they found a dead whale and the brain extract was already decomposing so it only had a partial effect and they can't get the full formula. This will make the humans less of the villains, but rather practical individuals they need to kill one whale for greater good of the whole human race and that is the conflict with the Metcaina clan. Nah, we just make humans evil and portray whaling like in 1960s just with hitech ships and crab suits.
I think the 5 movies will be focused on each of the sully 's stories (spoiler!) :
First is obviously Jake
The way of water is Neteyam ( we literally see all his life and Neitiri sing the song of his bracelet )
The third movie will be the seed bearer who will be Kiri and possibly Spider
The fourth movie, the tulkun rider will obviously be Lo'ak
And there might be, if I'm not wrong, a time skip somewhere before the fifth movie maybe for tuktirey?
What happened to norm
Way of Water is a dog shit movie. The first avatar was a 10 out of 10. WoW is a 6 out of 10.
Dogs can see blue. They mainly see blue & orange actually.
Kiri is the real Avatar
If humans already know that the tree of souls is the Achilles heel of the natives and they already understood that the animals attack them as an immune reaction from "Eywa", why don't they nuke that site and other similar ones once and for all?
Another thing that bothers me is the ease with which human vehicles are destroyed by the natives. Those helicopters look expensive, why hasn't an armor improvement been developed on their crystals so that arrows don't go through them? Why don't they carry guided missiles, very practical for chasing aerial enemies?
Ok so I have a question, is Grace Avatar alive or like what going on??
We've found your videos like this very interesting, thank you!
😂 “the wrong kid died god dammit” such an accurate depiction of how Jake is towards Lo’ak. Love the Dewey Cox reference! 😆
I think avatar 3 Will be half about spider experiencing Earth & face an ultimatum
Quaritch definitely gave me Vegeta vibes haha
I know I'm late to the party because I just saw it, but "Into The Spider-verse" or "X-Men 2".
The double edged sword that I am seeing in the misinterpretation of the series is that of Eywa. If Eywa is the "soul" of the planet (i.e. the planet is a living organism) then great! But if the concept becomes that Eywa is a "god" then we enter into the entire theology argument which will result in different clans or people (Na'Vi or humans) fighting over which version is more correct resulting in a crusades type sequel (which I really do NOT want to see). If Kiri becomes the voice of the planet, that is awesome; if she becomes the "living incarnation of their god" that is dangerous (get my drift?). I would really hate to start seeing that Kiri is the Christ figure, yada, yada.
Who else came here because of gollum/smeagol in the thumbnail?
So she’s basically Jesus
At 15:03 I was confused, but then I remembered Doug is color blind.
Neytiri probably will die 🙄🤔 i suppose great theories about Quoridge
Maybe this is why Neytari goes to earth in the 5th movie which the producer has let slip.
So kiri is jesus
Thank you, Doug. Michigan is gorgeous. But y'all don't need to come find out. Leave us alone. 🤣
I believe Spider's existence as a human amongst the tribe and his last action [saving his father] will create conflict within the family and water tribe. If you notice the end scene, when the family is finally all together on the rock, Neytiri doesn't even look at Spider. She was so enraged after her son's death that she seemingly was willing to kill him to get her daughter back. Imagine what she and others in the tribe will think once they find out that he saved Quaritch and low-key helped the Avatar soldiers… It's not going to sit well. It may even create a civil conflict. Jake can empathize because he was in a similar position during A1, but Neytiri made it clear at the beginning of A2 that she doesn't agree with Spider's presence amongst the tribe. The irony is that she doesn't see the parallels between her husband and Spider's character.
And look at the box office. Safe to say we have more coming.
“These people don’t have mass communication.”
They are literally connected to a hive mind
Only 2 years to know 😀
