What's New At Magic Kingdom For 2023? | TRON Coaster, Splash Mountain Closing & Train Opening

There are many exciting new things coming to the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World for 2023! Let’s explore the park on this marathon weekend and also see how busy it gets!

The 2023 Walt Disney World Marathon weekend is usually a busy one but we went early for rope drop to check out all of the new additions and closures set to happen throughout the year. We started off with the Let The Magic Begin show at the castle to see the park open and it’s a fun little stage show with Mickey and Friends! We then went to get on some rides while the wait times were very low, eventually riding The Haunted Mansion, Winnie the Pooh, Teacups, and the People Mover. And that’s a great ride to Gert a vantage point on the Tron Lightcycle coaster which is set to ope in Spring 2023! They have been testing it non stop and looks almost complete.

After another little stage show at the castle, we got some lunch at Casey’s Corner. At this point, the finishers for the marathon were starting to make their way into the park so it was getting a little busier. It was a chilly morning to start which is good for the runners but bad for water rides. This includes Splash Mountain which is set to close on January 23rd 2023! We will have to make it back before closing to get a chance to ride it one last time.

Finally, the Walt Disney World Railroad is back up and operational so we took a lap around the entire park! It’s a really smooth ride and a great way to navigate around the park. Also just a scenic one at that.

There’s still a lot more to come to the Magic Kingdom in 2023 and in Walt Disney World at that! I’m excited for the new year!
