What went WRONG with Tubbo's Minecraft Server TubNet???

TubNet was one of the most hyped minecraft servers i’d ever seen. Promising to bridge the gap between java and bedrock, 4 years of development, and over 4000 players on launch, how on earth did it die so fast?

  1. the amount of promotion and how single-minded tubbo became about the server was almost annoying at some point. but it made sense because he put it all into a project he was passionate about.
but the time, money and hype that was poured into tubnet to literally let it die shortly after release… is astonishing. it pretty much looks like he accepted defeat and decided to move on?
i wouldn't be surprised if it closed for good quietly. bc despite the "tory accusations" he is not made of money and just fueling money into such unprofitable project is not sustainable in the long run.

  2. i think tubbo only using his twitch subs as testers was a bad idea bc these ppl were excited to play with him on this exclusive server and were not gonna critise it in anyway so it built up his expectation of what the general minecraft players would think also he solely relied on his fans playing. I was subbed until like june 2022 so i saw the testing phase and stuff and subscribers opinions during that

  3. I'd like to say also that TubNet is using a LOT of custom model data/NBT data. As far as my tests, a lot of custom model data can't really be replicated in the same way for Bedrock edition players as it can Java in ways that are too difficult to explain, which is what I believe was another flaw of TubNet and why I was doubtful but ignorantly hopeful it would be crossplay from the start…

  4. surely they can make more than two (three if you count the delayed one) gamemodes after 4 years of development right?? what else could they have been working on?

  5. I'm actually astonished that you didnt mention MCC Island. The two SMPs came out at around the same time to about the same audience, but MCC Island succeeded in every place where Tubnet failed. MCCI did a slow release to closed beta testers via MCCI Tickets- those tickets were highly sought after and the island was hyped up and exclusive. MCCI had new fun gamemodes that no one had ever seen before that were fun and balanced. Everyone loved playing it, it had and still has an active set of social medias, and the event that it's tied to is still very popular. MCCI only just now launched to open beta, but its still insanely popular even without one big "launch" date.

  6. I believe that Tubbo wasn't very involved in the development and simply didn't care enough about the server. I am a developer for minecraft plugins and I have seen it countless times that servers just are named after an influencer for the promo and the influencer gets a cut without being very involved.
    It doesn't work out.
Gommehd which is a German server only did work so well because the youtuber was there every step of the way and truly loved the server

  7. Even the Cubecraft team have more effort in their ideas than Tubnet tbh. Tubnet is just a worse galaxite.

Also is Bedwars dying? On Cubecraft bedrock Eggwars is as healthy as ever lol.

  8. U lost me at Hypixel killer. If somebody made a video with that title I already knew the server was gonna fail and I haven't touched Minecraft in 4 years

  9. It’s disguisting how I watched monster school like 9 years ago, when it wasn’t even cringe and it devolved into that. R.I.P my childhood

  10. I look forward every weekend for a new video of you, your content as of recently has been really great!

Just out of curiosity, perhaps other people in the comment section can help me out here, but what is the shader/resource pack used at 4:11? I really love those sky colors and how there is this massive sigil in the sky.

  11. Im pretty sure the whole thing simply ran out of funding cuz the whole minecraft twitch thing slowly died. He used to get 30k viewers on every stream and now he barely hits 2k. Which is still a lot, but I guess simply not enough for such a huge project, considering that thousands of subs got cancelled and he doesnt have such a huge flow of income anymore.

  12. I have ideas for tubnet, like hosting events, (rank) giveaways, random events and other stuff like that I feel would make people wanna play since not a lot of servers have that

  13. He talked about how he didnt want TUbNet to be known because of him im pretty sure thats why he didnt stream it that much he talked about it in his interview with Anthony

  14. Ive never seen such a huge part of someones fanbase leave so quickly, than the last few months. Tubbo barely gets the stream numbers he used to even last year.

A lot of the people i knew on socials just completely dropped him recently after he refused to drop dream as a friend, still collabing with him..

You might think this is cringe parasocial behavior, but dream still has allegations that havent been disproven, so like yeah of course nobody wants to support someone who sees nothing wrong with that, and stays friends with a predador. It's such a shame

  15. I remember trying to play tubnet and having nothing on the server work for me, so I left it for a couple months then tried again thinking it was maybe because of how many people were in the server. It still didn't work so I've never got to actually experience it for myself 🙁

  16. as someone whos part of the handful of the current tubnet community (im specifically someone who focuses more on the lore and story thats slowly being put together) this is a good video on what went wrong with tubnet, ive found that a lot of the other videos seem a lot more… accusatory? i guess? but i didnt really feel that from this video.

i think what could either really bring back tubnet (or be the final nail in the coffin) is spacebound finally releasing. because from what i could see, that was the game most people were hyped for, it was promised to be there on release. and then it wasn't. and we havent gotten anything concrete about its development since.

which i think is intentional. they realized they messed up raising so much hype about it only for it to not be there on release, and they dont want to get peoples hopes up only to drop them. which is also likely why its taking so long, cuz once again, i feel the tubnet teams know spacebound is very important to the future of tubnet, so of course they want to get it right.

i also do hope tubbo eventually gets more active in the advertising. im hoping he's just waiting for the server to reach a more polished state and have a wider array of games or something. like, the community members who run events like tubnet tourneys and lightstrike summit are doing more for keeping the community alive than tubbo is.
