Finally somebody being open and honest about what happens during a tragic event. There has to be some people who have to continue to work and not just sit there and comment that we should do nothing and that if you thinking of doing something, either playing the game or thinking about rescheduling then you are a bad person. Many many people in the NFL offices were scrambling trying to figure out 1) if the game was going to be played; 2) if the the game is not going to be played will it be rescheduled and when; 3) what effect this will have on the remaining schedule and team standings etc; 4) what about all the people who are employed at the various venues etc – this effects more than Damar Hamlin and his family. My father was killed in a car accident and yes my world stopped, but the earth kept on spinning and the rest of the world went on with life.
When I was in the Air Force and a plane crashed, yes there was shock and grief but the the machine had to begin rolling to recover the body, recover the wreckage, the accident investigation immediately started, rescheduling pilots for the next missions etc. Everybody on the base just couldn't stop everything they were doing and grieve for a day or two. The people who had to plan, schedule and think of things were not heartless, uncaring, ruthless people, but people who had to do a job. As soon as I heard/saw the injury with Damar Hamlin and the postponement of the game I immediately thought of the headache it that was going be to reschedule the game. I am not a cold hearted person, I have seen planes crash in front of me and both pilots die but the world didn't stop.
Wiley is totally wrong about the NFL should have contemplated playing the game. Yes life goes on if someone close to you dies…but does it mean if you witnessed them dying you’re supposed to continue what were you were doing that moment? If Wiley was preparing on his computer some topics for the next days show…and someone died he is close with without warning in his company…he should just continue minutes later what he was working on?

Also hasn’t the NFL bent over backwards making the game safer…but now you cart of a guy who is literally on the brink of death…then resume.
