Why do some #saltillotile have stripes on the surface? No, these stripes are not a defect! In fact, the stripes are supposed to be on some of the tiles, so the terracotta floor has the most natural blend of colors.
Striping on clay tiles is an effect of the kiln firing process during manufacturing. Blend the striped Saltillo tiles into the overall floor layout to see the magic happen!
Worst case scenario… if you don’t like the striped tiles, cull them out and install the remaining terracotta tiles for a more monochromatic look.
