What is the Wagner Group really doing in Africa? | DW News

It’s been one month since the Russian mercernary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin was reportedly killed in a plane crash in Russia. Days before his death Prigozhin had been in the Central African Republic where his Wagner Group is in charge of president Faustin-Archange Touadera’s security. But since Prigozhin’s death there is division in the country over Wagner’s presence. DW’s Zigoto Tchaya Tchameni reports from Bangui.

  1. Don't worry Europeans, when Wagner/Russia steals all their resources and pay off the govenment and then does not provide the welfare support that the residents demand, they will rise up again and beg for you back. That is africa, they always suck the teat of their next augardaddy.

  2. I cannot understand how Africans can believe that a group of mercenaries belonging to a European imperialist power, whose founder had the SS symbol tattooed on his neck, are there to liberate Africa from European imperialism. Is everyone really that naive, to put it mildly, in Africa? Is there anyone with their eyes open? Changing masters is not a revolution, much less a liberation.

  3. First, Wagner group is not ‘private’, it’s a division of russian state military, and it was was confirmed by Putin. Wagner is in Africa not to make local population happy but to make money for Putin’s war in Ukraine. And then, it’s sad, that some countries, like Russia itself, are not in favor to be free, and always are looking around to find the worst dictator they want to belong to.

  4. Why are thsse Western hypocrites so much worried about Russia/Wagner Group in Afrika??? But more than 400yrs is when the so-called West and its Allies have been on Afrikan soil, exploiting, mis-educating, stealing, killing, raping, creating political wars and so many atrocities and yet Afrika has never achieved anything, who are you people to tell Afrikans how to govern their continent? Or do Afrika need European 🇪🇺 permission to invite its allies? Its high time the Western nations backed by US to stop ✋️ their attitudes of nastic hypocrasy.

  5. African countries have the right to invite any cooperation partner they want, be that France, Wagner, USA, UN, or any other. The countries that do invite foreign partners will then have to live with that decision. It's as simple as that. In the end, Africans are responsible for Africa's security, stability and development. No one else.
