I might can hook you guys up with Samyang.
Something that's being completely missed in all of this GFX 100 ii sensor speed talk, it shoots really high quality video. It must have a faster sensor in order to get the higher image quality and dynamic range for video shooting.
No mention of the improved focus for the new GFX 100 ii !
I really enjoy listening to your podcasts, but only if you let me. This episode was released in mp4 format, but unfortunately I listen with gear that only supports mp3. Any chance of returning to the standard podcast format? FYI, the 44.1, 64kb/s, mono, mp3 specs are sufficient for well recorded audio.
Very happy to see you guys continuing to do your show together. Iโve been following both of you. And since the beginning of the camera store, YouTube channel. My question is, I was wondering if you were planning on doing some cameras from yesteryear again, I really enjoyed those. Two cameras in particular, I would love to see you revisit would be the Pentax Q or the Pentax, MX-1. Iโve purchased both and have used them for quite some time, loving the Joya Photography that they bring. Thank you for all the recommendations. Youโve given through the years it has made my photographic life quite an experience. Keep the content coming..
I have two questions for Jordan regarding the Panasonic S5ii/S5iix. Does shooting in 24hz impact motion judder in panning in video as opposed to 60hz when shooting 24p? I figure a slow sensor readout speed compared to instantaneous full readout would impact the cadence look as well but not sure of the components that make some cameras seem to maintain better image integrity when panning. Also, do you make use of the real time baked in lut feature or do you prefer to edit v-log in post?
14:40 "it took me years to focus and so too did the EOS M series of cameras…" ๐คฃ๐ Yep, pretty much. I had the original M and got back in when the M50 came out. Then Canon decided to drag a decent reasonably priced functional system through the mud and now finally abandon it. ๐ I get it but man did they handle it poorly, IMO.
NX1!!!!! still going strong LETS GO
Honestly I would love to send y'all my NX1 for a retro review, but its legit what I use on a daily for my work, but hopefully someone can send one in cus I would LOVE seeing y'all talk about that camera again
The Samyang 85mm would make Petapixel complicit in shipping contraband items ๐ Maybe the dark web has some for sale ๐
I think what would be a helpful, maybe fun, comparison would be super zooms and to regular zooms. For example, I had a 18-55 and a 50-200 XF lens. I hated the 55-200 and ended up replacing it with a Tamron 18-300mm. The convenience of having one lens takes away the stress of changing lens in the field but you give up a bit on quality. Would be cool to see professionals in photography field to test that out.
Om5 kit – an incredible piece of sh1t on useless micro sensor
?
comparison is the only meaning way to review something. it's why the reviews on this channel are not useful (but entertaining!).
iยดm not sure this fuji drama is really helpful as it is totally detached from what you will see doing controlled tests with real images and judging them visually. after finding an abnormality in EDR mr.kasson claimed that he sees a slight advantage in noise at iso 80 over the iso 100 or the 100s which is nothing more than a self fulfilling prophecy as there is no meaningful real difference. with the discovery of black point clipping he predicts that this could lead to color shifts with heavy lifted shadows but agin I could not see this in real world tests to be true. I also assume the engineers working for fuji are no idiots and make a camera perform worse than the predecessors and they for sure know the sensor better than mr.kasson.
Love the show as always ๐ As a gfx100s owner, my question is besides the looks and feel of the hasselbald. Is the lens lineup any smaller or lighter? Is it really noticeable when compared?
CineStill ..no longer being bought by me. FlicFilm is not my primary film supplier. Once again a company doesnt realize that pissing off your customer with corporate attitude and greed is never a good thing. Its a small community that use film…count one more former user of their products. bye bye CineStill I hope you go out of business.
Hi guys! My first comment ever since I started watching you guys back in 2010! Thanks for the countless hours of entertainment and hugely insightful wisdom you have given all these years!
Tech support directed to Jordan about the Lumix S5M2(X). In my extensive testing with an Atomos Shogun Inferno, I could not find any meaningful difference in IQ between the internal LongGOP and external ProRes 422 HQ. I was wondering: would it make sense to buy the DMW-SFU2 for my S5M2, so it will output in higher quality, and (still) record to ProRes 422 (NOT ProRes Raw of Braw)? In addition to that: does it matter for the quality of the HDMI out signal what recording settings are used? For example, does bitrate, resolution or LongGOP or All-I (in the case of the S5M2X) matter for the external recording? Thanks again!
I believe the Canon M3 was quite a success in Europe (there are other important markets than the US and Japan ๐ ).
I think the reason why photographers are mad when cameras bring more video-centric features (and vice versa) is because "they could have used the time/resources to make the photography better" or "it would have been less expensive without all the stupid video features that no one uses" … I love my Z8 ๐
Jared should admit that all Camera Manufacturers can be untruthful at times. Such as when Canon limited or throttled their EOS M and DSLR as shown by Magic Lantern, or Sony put a lot of noise reduction, or Nikon using Sony sensors…
Tech Support Question: In the Podcast you answered the question about star filters, but didn't comment on the use of a tripod on a ship. My experience has been all bad in that scenario, either the movement of the ship, or the vibration from the engines makes the shots almost unusable. Are some ship OK, or do they have vibration isolation decks? I'd hate to shoot all night and then find out every shot is shaken, not stirred. What's your recommendation?
Finally we get to meet the Legendary Jim! Great having you on. Letโs not forget that Fuji tried to convince everyone that x-trans sensors out-resolved and had had more accurate colors than equivalent megapixel sensors and that proved to be a lie.
Dracula batteries also don't work on D-SLRs… fine on mirrorless though ๐คฃ
