Footsteps filled the large hallway, beams of filtered sunlight radiating against the fern-patterned floor, and a calm discussion was taking place on an obvious subject: Anakin Skywalker.
Master Mace Windu, robed in layers of deep brown and cream, paced the room with measured steps. “He is strong in the Force,” he admitted, his voice a calm bass reverberation. Mace knew that the council also shared his opinion that Anakin was stronger than any Padawan they had seen. “But his attachments…they worry me.”
Obi-Wan Kenobi—newly knighted after the death of his own Master, Qui-Gon Jinn—stood nearby, shoulders squared. “Qui-Gon believed in him,” he said, voice threaded with quiet determination. “He insisted that Anakin is the one spoken of in our ancient prophecy—the Chosen One, destined to bring balance.”
Opposite Mace stood Yoda, hands resting on his Gimer stick, ears drooping slightly in thought. He closed his eyes. “Feel the Force swirling around him, I do. Much potential, yes. A burden, also.” Then, ever so slightly, he tilted his head toward Anakin himself. The boy waited just beyond the Council circle, curiosity dancing in his blue eyes.
For a moment, the Council lapsed into a contemplative hush. It was Ki-Adi-Mundi who finally broke the silence. “Perhaps,” he began, “we should not fear his attachments but guide them.”
Yoda gave a small nod. “Agreed, the Council is.”
Mace exchanged glances with the others, then inhaled. “Young Skywalker, step forward.”
That was the start of everything…

A great what if. My only slight nitpick is Ki Adi Mundi being against marriage openly. He himself had many wives and children in the EU since his planet had a low birth rate for males.
