  1. Pretty inconsistent list. While you used Pokémon from the first 2 generations for all of them, even when they would have needed reinforcements from other regions, you did not for Morty and Whitney. Also, I think some of the teams really suck and are poorly composed. Pryce with a Delibird and 3 Water/Ice types?

  2. Honestly I feel like Gliscor and Togekiss would be perfect choices for Falkner's team, both are evolutions of Pokemon introduced in Gen 2, Togekiss is a much better special wall and attacker with access to good coverage and Serene Grace as an ability it's much better than Noctowl for a champion, Gliscor would be a good replacement for Crobat, it's very bulky, has an Electric type immunity and can be annoying with Toxic Orb + Poison Heal + Roost.

  3. And now, since I'm a Pokemon freak, it's time for me to judge your selection in a critical manor:

Clair: Even though like a good 2/3rds of her team is Lance's team, I feel as if the Kingdra, unevolved Dragonair, and Tyranitar all make her team really stand out. While a part of me did wish that she has a Dragonite because not only did it fully evolve, but because it also shows how much she's evolved as a battler, dragon master, and a trainer overall, but I feel like the Dragonair is a good edition showing how inferior she is to Lance in every way. Also, it was always a head-canon of mine that she has a Tyranitar just to show off to people that she has two pseudo-legendaries instead of one so it makes me happy to see that you give her one. Overall, I rate it a (9/10). Very fitting for her character, only slightly held down by my dreams of me fighting her with a Dragonite.

Pryce: Judging by the amount of Ice type Pokemon available in Johto, I can understand what you are going for. However, the type diversity is kind od lacking. I really love the inclusion of Mamoswine and Jynx, as well as Lapras, but the rest aren't cutting for me. You got a Delibird and two extra Water/Ice types when Weavile (a Pokemon he's used before) is right there. I feel as if you replace either Delibird or Cloyster with it, it would be a much better team. I'm not sure about Dewgong because that's Pryce's second most used line, but Dewgong is the worse out of the three so you can make an argument there. Overall, I give it a (5/10). Not the best, but it works with what we're limited to.

Jasmine: She literally has the perfect team. All of the available Johto Steel types and an Ampharos as a reference to the sick Ampharos she took care of during the game? It's all too perfect. I can see her using that as her Mega, but I also see her using that Steelix for a mega slot too, considering that Steelix is her mega. However, it's really odd that she didn't evolve her Magneton into a Magnezone. Especially when there's a Power Plant in Kanto. Not that it matters anyway since you can't even evolve Magneton in Heart Gold and Soul Silver at all. Not much else to say. It's literally perfect. (10/10)

Chuck: For Chuck, it's almost perfect. With the 7 fully evolved fighting types available in Gen 2, I say that it's a solidly built team. I would personally swap out Heracross for Hitmontop, but he can rotate between the two. Like Jasmine, there's nothing else for me to say other than it's a great fitting team. I give this a (9/10) as well.

Morty: I don't know how to feel about Morty's team. I mean, the structure of the team is solid. I would expect him to use all of these if it wasn't for one issue. Up to this point, the teams are restricted to Pokemon from Kanto and Johto. Here, there are Pokemon from Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kalos for some reason? It just really feels inconsistent seeing teams with limited Pokemon, then all of a sudden, I see Morty carrying an Aegislash. That tells me that any Gym Leader can be Champion and use Pokemon from different regions, but choose not to. If we go by that logic, that means that a ton of teams would be better off with Pokemon from other regions. Chuck would be better off with a Conkeldurr, Kommo-O Breloom, Jasmine's gonna rock a Metagross and she can just evolve her Magneton, Clair's gonna be bustin' ass with Pseudos like Garchomp, Salamence, and Hydreigon, and Pryce, for all I know, is probably gonna have a Baxcalibur. I get that there wasn't much in terms of Ghost types in Gens 1 & 2, but the same could go for Clair, and that didn't stop you from giving her a Tyranitar. If you really wanna make those restrictions feel in line with the rest, I say replace everyone else not named Gengar or Mismagius with a Haunter, Marowak, Weezing, and Crobat. If that was the team you showed off, I'd be satisfied, but for now, I'll give it a (4/10). Good team synergy, but either you limit everyone, or don't limit them at all.

Whitney: The team was almost perfect, until I saw the Lopunny. I know I delved into this, but it feels inconsistent to have you fully commit to either one idea, or the other. But other than that Lopunny, the situation isn't as bad as with Morty because everyone else is either from Kanto or Johto. Also, I think it would be funny to see that the one Pokemon she has that can Mega Evolve isn't even native to the two regions at all. If you want a replacement for that Lopunny, the only option is Snorlax. There's no other option. Curselax all the way. Overall, I give it a (8/10). Lopunny drags it back, but not as much as Morty. Other than that, team's solid. Seeing all of these normally adorable Pokemon just crush the crap out of you is just so funny. That's just the charm of Whitney for you.

Bugsy: This is one of the funniest teams of all time. Not only is it a perfect team with tons of Bug type Pokemon that fit Bugsy well, and are native to the Johto/Kanto regions, but knowing that Scizor, Heracross, Pinsir, and Beedrill can Mega Evolve, just makes him the perfect wild card, as since he's the expert Bug catcher, he'll possibly figure out which Mega to use. Like, imagine if one battle, he uses Mega Beedrill, but in the next, he allows his trusty Scizor to gain bigger meatier claws. (10/10)

Falkner: I really think that the team compostion is pretty solid for a Flying type trainer in the Johto region. If he's gonna beat Lance, this is most likely the team he's gonna do it with. It's full of birds, and air maneuverers that just suit Falkner. Though I kinda wish you replace someoen with Gliscor. It will definitely help with the massive Electric weakness surrounding his team. Other than that, it's pretty good. (8/10)

Also, if you want my opinion on who would make the best champion, the ones with the most potential are Clair, Jasmine, and Bugsy.

  4. Great vid!
But I think Dewgong and Delibird are too weak for a champion team. Replace them with Weavile and Gyarados (lake of rage) and that’s a champion worthy ice team.
Evolve jasmine’s magneton to magnezone, chuck’s primeape to anhihilape.
I think Morty should keep Gengar and Mismageius, instead of having other region exclusive ghosts could have Wyrdeer, Farigiraf, Espeon and Umbreon which all make a lot of sense.

  5. I feel like Jasmine or Morty personality wise are the most likely to be promoted to e4 or champion. Young prodegies basically.
I see Pryce as being good in his prime but having had come out of retirement to take over a gym but is not as good as he used to be
    Just my headcannon lol.

  6. I enjoy these theoretical videos of yours, but I’m confused with the conditions you’ve given yourself for creating these teams.

You gave Pryce a Mamoswine and Morty a Mismagius, but you gave Jasmine a Magneton. Why not evolve that into a Magnezone?

If you were limiting these teams to Pokemon available in their Regional Pokedex, why not give Pryce a Sneasel, or maybe even a Weavile? Same with Whitney when Tauros and Ambipom exist

I understand Morty wouldn’t have a full team of Ghost Pokemon since Gen 2 only had the Gengar line and Misdreavus. I just thought you’d keep the teams aligned as much as possible to learning each Gym Leader’s respective TMs given out, like your Kanto video

  7. Clair needs Feraligatr for many reasons: 1) it’s Johto based 2) it knows dragon moves 3) it looks half dragon 4) most of the current team mentioned is already Lance’s team 5) if Charizard is being used again in a final gym/elite four team, why isn’t nobody using another non dragon type, but dragon looking starter. It’s not against the rules for a gym leader to use a fully evolved starter, it’s just rare. 6) it keeps the team as blue as possible since Clair represents blue, so replace Charizard with Feraligatr and find another to replace a Kanto purple fossil. Tyranitar is acceptable bc of its location near blackthorn city, it’s dragon like face, and at that point in the game story an acceptable powerhouse expected to battle. That’s all.

  8. Why doesn’t Chuck have another available powerful Johto fighting type Hitmontop? There’s 5 Kanto to replace it with, and yet another Elite Four member copycat, sigh

  9. Every gym leader got some spice or something that is decent. Pryce is just getting zucced out here rest of this was decent. But the complete overhaul of Morty’s team but not any of the other seems little unfair but yea,

  11. Nice list! Although it seems odd to me that Clair has to make do with regional non-dragons while Morty gets Ghost types from other regions. If he was restricted to only Johto and Kanto Pokemon like the others, I’d give him: Gengar, Mismagius, Girafarig, Umbreon, Hypno, and Noctowl. Maybe a Stantler in reserve. They give spooky vibes!!

I also feel bad for Hitmontop not being in Chuck’s team, and would replace Lopunny with perhaps a Lickilicki or a Furret (but only because Furret is my favourite Pokemon..!)
