I probably shouldn’t have gotten my theology from cartoons. Here are specific, common, false beliefs about heaven and a number of things we can know about Heaven based on the Bible.
Mike, you understand heaven is an imaginary place. What about all the people claiming to have been there? It seems those testimonies would be a useful tool for apologists. Do you take NDE, visions, dreams and other testimony about heaven seriously?
Randy Alcorn's book, Heaven, is an amazing resource on this subject matter. There might be more comprehensive books out there on Heaven, but I don't know of one that puts the whole subject into modern context as well.
Read the parable of the talents. The good and faithful servants were put in charge of cities. Think about it. There is a whole universe out there, galaxies, stars and planets filled with God's creation, much more than what we have here on Earth. God created us to carry around His presence so doesn't it make sense that we are given a job to do somewhere but God is there physically present in out bodies.
Hey Pastor, if you see this could you please say a prayer for me. I am being majorly attacked on all fronts (health, finances, job, safety, family). I trust and love God like no other, but man this is looking like the end if God doesnt save me.
This is an appropriate title for the entire video.
The new heavens and the new earth are the new covenant that we now have. We are not waiting for some future fulfillment of a better kingdom.
Let's look at Isaiah 51:16: (YLT) And I put My words in thy mouth, And with the shadow of My hand have covered thee, To plant the heavens, and to found earth, And to say to Zion, `My people [art] thou.'
Here, we see plainly that the old heavens and the old earth referred to God's covenant with the Jews.
Matthew 5:18 tells us something important:
For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
If you understand that the heavens and earth in certain contexts refer to the old covenant, then this makes perfect sense. Since Christ has accomplished all things, heaven and earth (the old covenant) has passed away.
But if instead, you think that the literal heavens and earth will pass away, then you must believe that we are still under the law. I have heard this argument made by people who wish to enforce the 10 commandments under Jewish law.
This is also the context of Hebrews 8:13: (NKJV) In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Given these basic explanations, now we can understand properly the end of Hebrews 12: 25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” 27 Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
Again we see that the shaking of the heavens and the earth refers to the establishing of a covenant.
Haggai 2:6 For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
Secondarily, the shaking of the heavens and earth can refer to times of war or judgment.
Luke 21:26 men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Isaiah 13:13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, And the earth will be shaken from its place At the fury of the Lord of hosts In the day of His burning anger.
Both of these meanings are important to understand the fulfillment of the ages – the destruction of Jerusalem and the establishing of a new covenant.
If we read Revelation 21 in this proper context, we see plainly that it is describing (in the first several verses) the new covenant that we now have:
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
This is the fulfillment of all old testament prophecy, which refers to the new covenant, where Christ will rule, and the former things (the old covenant, which was but a shadow) has passed away. God's dwelling place is now among His people, we are the temple of the living God. This is not a future event for any of us who are true Christians.
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Another lesson could be done on the proper context of 1 Corinthians 15, and the "twinkling of an eye, the trumpet sound."
This is not describing a future event 2,000+ years in the future. When Paul refers to the resurrection, he is referring to the resurrecting of all souls from the grace (Sheol) which took place at the consummation of the new Kingdom, at the destruction of Jerusalem.
Revelation 20:12, 13 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.
You see this is the dead – not the whole living world – who were resurrected and judged. The grave (Sheol) was defeated.
Notice what Peter says twice here: 1 Peter 4: 5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. (HE is ready) 7 The end of all things is at hand (The end of the old heavens and the old earth – the Jewish age) 17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God (It is time)
This is describing the resurrection.
Here is a parallel passage describing the twinkling of an eye – the trumpet sound, in Matthew 24:
30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
This is also repeated in Revelation chapter 1 when it says "Every eye will see Him," it is a quote from Zechariah 12.
Matthew 24 tells us when this will happen (It isn't 2,000 years later). 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
Very plainly, we see that the trumpet sound and the twinkling of an eye would be something that happened in the generation of the people listening to Jesus.
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
And here, we come full circle. The old covenant would pass away, but not the words of Jesus.
This idea is repeated in Matthew 16:27,28 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
28 “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
Glory to God. These aspects were first pointed out to me by David Pawson, truly a teacher through which I've been blessed. Listening to his Revelation exposition is SO very exciting. The victory is won, and it will be most glorious and perfect. Cling to God and his Word, and prepare yourselves for the big trouble as Christians will go through it – and if I'm wrong then preparing costed me nothing, but not to prepare and find ourselves in it could be disastrous.
I do not agree that the end of Psalm 16 describes the experience of death for the believer, but rather what the believer experiences after being resurrected from Sheol (the grave).
I believe we will have a temporary body in heaven while we wait for our glorified bodies. Otherwise, how would the martyred souls in Rev 6:11 be able to put on robes?
unless what you have to say about heaven is "it doesn't exist, it's just a wild claim from humans that desire comfort for themselves and the dead", then you are very, very wrong
Again Christianity aka Satanism got it wrong. YeHoVaH and there is no other. Jesus and the Holy Spirit is not a god. Reading Yeshua's origin, we don't read Jesus came off his throne, flew down to earth and entered Mary's womb. What we do read is the Holy Spirit coming up on Mary and imparts the Y-DNA to fertilize the egg. Holy Spirit is the power of God, YeHoVaH, not a polytheistic third member of the triune godhead. This is why Yeshua is the ONLY-BEGOTTEN of YeHoVaH. Salvation is not dependent on accepting Jesus into your heart. 99.99999% of every human being who ever lived does not acknowledge nor call upon THE NAME, YeHoVaH nor know the REAL Yeshua who was born into, lived, defended, and died for Torah, the very words that came out of the mouth of YeHoVaH. He didn't do it to be saved since His lineage comes from YeHoVaH not Adam! This is why Yeshua is unblemished just like Adam and Eve were before they ate from the Forbidden tree of knowledge of good and evil. Yeshua who was unblemished kept the Torah as a means to worship the ONE TRUE GOD, YeHoVaH. He didn't keep Torah to be saved since He was already pure and unblemished like Adam and Eve before their act of rebellion. Like Adam and Eve before the rebellious act, were offered ETERNAL LIFE so long as they do not eat from the Forbidden Tree!!! Yeshua told us who will be in paradise. The MEEK shall inherit the earth. The MEEK of ALL nations throughout history!!! People know what good and evil is. And there has been meek in all nations who aren't perfect but certainly did not accept Satan's way of life to murder, lie, steal, fornicate, perverse lifestyles, and backstab at the expense of other people including those who forsake their evil lives and turn it around without the knowledge of the One True God and Yeshua. For these people, Yeshua who is given everything including the keys to death and the grave, GIVES free eternal life to the Meek! So, what will the meek do who enter paradise? If YeHoVaH is our Father, what was our Father's occupation? Creator! We shall be in charge of the universe to take care of it just as Adam and Eve were to take care of Eden and Earth!!! We shall be in the newly recreated universe free from Satanic stains, to be in charge of galaxies and myriads of planets throughout the near or maybe infinite universe. You will be on your planet to do with it as you please in creating how it will look and function. In addition, you will invite people to your planet to enjoy the fruits of your labor, like swimming with dolphins, hiking, and best of all parties. Yeshua told us secretly that we can be physical as well as Spirit by eating fish when He had resurrected which also tells us that we will enjoy drinking and eating (not that we need to survive) and also will enjoy physical activities alone and with everyone who makes it. You will spending time with the most gorgeous women and the most handsome men in our glorified bodies as a family. No longer the selfish marriages of a couple but each person will now spend time with everyone as brothers and sisters. One day, that gorgeous female will spend a day with you swimming with dolphins and the next day with another guy or gal hiking. Somedays it will be just a couple of people or groups of people doing fun and exciting activities all over the universe There will be parties everywhere and no one is discriminated nor will there be cliques. This is why the Creator created the vast universe. And at the end of a day or so, we go back to our house to our Father and elder Brother on earth. We will work for eternity but work and fun will meld into each other. It's like finding your passion and making a living off of that. Never a gloomy day, never boring, and never ever unhappy! Glory be to YeHoVaH! There is no other! Michael Rood's Truth and Tradition Michael Rood's Zechariah's Thermonuclear War Torahkey666 on YT
We are not going to be resurrected into the flesh the spiritual body means not of the flesh why would you interoperate that any different. By teaching people, they will be in perfect and beautiful physical bodies walking down streets of gold you are appealing to their craving for earthly pleasures. That is against Jesus' teachings he told people to not worry about what they look like what they wear and eat and not to covate wealth and beauty. Jesus was the only person capable of being in the flesh and not sinning. Not even Adam and Eve could be in the flesh and not give in to sin what makes you think we could be in the flesh for eternity and not sin that would suggest that we are equal to Jesus and that is against God the thought that we could be equal to God. The devil himself was cast out because he was trying to be equal to God and Eve sinned because she wanted to be equal to God. Teaching people that they will be equals to God in the flesh is against the core teachings of the bible both new and Old Testament. The perfect happy existence comes in heaven because you don't have a flesh body that craves those worldly things. That doesn't mean heaven will be boring just because we are in spirit form on the contrary being in the spirit form would be exciting. Have you ever wanted to fly though Outerspace over worlds well you couldn't do that with a flesh body because you would need to breath. God didn't say in heaven you have to sit in front of me and sing all day I would think you could interact with the whole of creating on a spiritual level and manifest physical senses the same way you can manifest physical senses in your dreams. The fact that you don't have a apple pie in front of you doesn't stop your mind from manifesting the smell and taste of an apple pie and the fact that you aren't actually hugging a family member doesn't stop you from feeling that hug if you dream that you're hugging them doesn't stop you from having a conversation with them. We can manifest all kinds of things in our dreams right now so why wouldn't we be able to still do that when we are spirits in heaven and able to control those dreams where you can't now because you aren't aware you're dreaming, and the bible compares death to sleep in many instances. Long story short don't twist bible words to fit what you want because you're afraid of death. Spirit form will be much more than your mind can comprehend so just trust that it will be the best thing you have ever experienced because God said it would be.
A few years ago, I thought the same. Then I came under a physical trial and only watched John MacArthur sermons. His teaching on Heaven blew my mind. Also, I was Catholic, Episcopalian, Assemblies of God, and finally Reformed before I learned about Heaven. They don't talk about it.
I agree that the more and more going to church and listening to preaching the more and more you start have a sense of God's Kingdom. Lord clearly said that The Kingdom of Heaven is in us. And by being in us we can get the sense of it clearly. Even the Christ Second Coming becomes clearer. We people imagination, and while committing ourselves to Christ and services in church the more and more our imagination will be clear and it'll be moving more in a right way (course) to imagine Kingdom of Heaven.
Only thing good about heaven is the temperature. Otherwise, it's somewhere between a communist dictatorship and a private school. No freedom. No sex, no drugs, no alcohol, no sleep, no darkness, all communications censored and moderated, think Zucc was bad? Music, plays, shows movies all censored and controlled. I do NOT want God to take away my tears ! What a loss that would be ! The very best music will make you cry. Your favorite movie probably made you cry. If it doesn't, it's not worth the price of admission. To listen to music without tears ins so empty. Have you heard Christian music or watched a Christian movie? Some say we get an apartment some say we get a mansion, but we are stuck in a city. I hate cities. I don't like people either. It's only a hope that we keep our pets, we can't even keep our spouse. Scripture says you can't leave. Everything you worked for gets destroyed. Constant praise means there's no peace and quiet. Praise for what, more people in Hell than Heaven? There's no victory in that. You don't get everything you want, there's not enough room. People beating swords into plows… I like to shoot. I like gardening too, you can have both, I know, I've done it. And the people who aren't there, some should be. Some in Hell shouldnt be there. I like silver and blue, I get the feeling heaven is red and gold by the sounds of it. Not much about heaven I really like to be honest. Heaven would be having my own copy of the Earth with only those who I wanted there, on it. Some just to mess with, like those jerks that drive with their brights on ignoring the blue idiot light staring them in the face. I'd have fun with those. People who make a living bringing hardship to others. Let me have them for a few thousand years. That's heaven.
I did some math a while back about how long it would take to spend a day with every set of people in heaven from 1 person to 100 people at a time (assuming 6 billion people) . It came out to like 10 to the 45,447th power years. I imagine after all that time I may change a little and I could do the whole thing over again.
Lol, “spiritual chihuahua” 🤣 Honestly, I think about the biblical teaching of [a new] Heaven once in a blue moon and today was one of them —it’s overwhelmingly beautiful. All glory to GOD.
Here's something to think about. If we will be worshipping God for all of eternity, do you believe that means we'll be singing songs for the rest of eternity? I guess there's a two part question here. Do you believe that singing and playing musical instruments is the only form of worship?
My favorite part was the chihuahua comparison. Its hilarious but also an accurate visualization of the reactions many Christians have (myself included).
I honestly don't care what heaven will be like, it will be back with God Almighty and Jesus Christ and that's all that matters. I'm so tired and sad and alone I just want to go home to be with God! Amen!
The martyrs aren’t under the throne, they’re under the altar. The pattern in heaven shown to Moses had two altars, the altar of offering and the altar of incense
Mike, you understand heaven is an imaginary place. What about all the people claiming to have been there? It seems those testimonies would be a useful tool for apologists. Do you take NDE, visions, dreams and other testimony about heaven seriously?
Ecclesiastes 9:5
For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.
Sorry, I don't know why Christ had to die if we go straight to heaven.
Randy Alcorn's book, Heaven, is an amazing resource on this subject matter. There might be more comprehensive books out there on Heaven, but I don't know of one that puts the whole subject into modern context as well.
You should get Randy Alcorn on here.
1 Corinthians 2:9
"What no eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and has not entered into heart of man, what God has prepared for those loving Him."
The Last Battle really shaped my view of heaven in I think good ways as a kid
Some people won't die because of the rapture? Doubt it. Everyone will die at some point doubt that was supposed to be literal.
The Bible doesn't say much about the afterlife. And with what little it does say…how do you it's true? The Bible is a product of man – not God.
God is eternal. Do you think he is bored? No.
Thank you
If you're anxious about Heaven, picture the alternative…
How does this description of heaven and the feelings etc line up with what happened in Eden with Adam and Eve?
Are you seriously going to spend your whole life doing this?
Whoa this makes so much sense
Hey Mike
Read the parable of the talents. The good and faithful servants were put in charge of cities. Think about it. There is a whole universe out there, galaxies, stars and planets filled with God's creation, much more than what we have here on Earth. God created us to carry around His presence so doesn't it make sense that we are given a job to do somewhere but God is there physically present in out bodies.
There will be no bones in the grave

The new heavens and the new earth are the new covenant that we now have. We are not waiting for some future fulfillment of a better kingdom.
Let's look at Isaiah 51:16: (YLT)
And I put My words in thy mouth, And with the shadow of My hand have covered thee, To plant the heavens, and to found earth, And to say to Zion, `My people [art] thou.'
Here, we see plainly that the old heavens and the old earth referred to God's covenant with the Jews.
Matthew 5:18 tells us something important:

This is also the context of Hebrews 8:13: (NKJV)
In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Given these basic explanations, now we can understand properly the end of Hebrews 12:
25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks.
Haggai 2:6
For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
Secondarily, the shaking of the heavens and earth can refer to times of war or judgment.
Luke 21:26
men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Isaiah 13:13
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble,
And the earth will be shaken from its place
At the fury of the Lord of hosts
In the day of His burning anger.
Revelation 20:12, 13
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.
Notice what Peter says twice here: 1 Peter 4:
5 but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
(HE is ready)
7 The end of all things is at hand
(The end of the old heavens and the old earth – the Jewish age)
17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God
(It is time)
This is describing the resurrection.
This idea is repeated in Matthew 16:27,28
27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
28 “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
What a glorious time this will be!! Praise God!!

If it is a choice to start believing in free will. Then people can also stop believing in it whenever asked to do so. Right?
unless what you have to say about heaven is "it doesn't exist, it's just a wild claim from humans that desire comfort for themselves and the dead", then you are very, very wrong

We will work for eternity but work and fun will meld into each other. It's like finding your passion and making a living off of that. Never a gloomy day, never boring, and never ever unhappy!
Glory be to YeHoVaH!
There is no other!

Revelation 21-22 is not purely future. The heavenly Jerusalem is here in the coming of the Holy Spirit and the establishment of God's NT church.
Thank you Pastor Mike, for doing what you do. God bless you always.🙏🏾
Mike Winger, What you got wrong about heaven is it being real when it's make-believe just like god and satan.
Are the rest of the 20Q's posted somewhere? I've been looking.
Hey Mike I ran into a video of how the story of Noah’s ark disproves the Bible. What would your responses be?
I did some math a while back about how long it would take to spend a day with every set of people in heaven from 1 person to 100 people at a time (assuming 6 billion people) . It came out to like 10 to the 45,447th power years.
I imagine after all that time I may change a little and I could do the whole thing over again.
Psalms 16:10 and 11 are talking about Jesus not humans. Jesus is at the right hand of God, not us.
Lol, “spiritual chihuahua” 🤣
Honestly, I think about the biblical teaching of [a new] Heaven once in a blue moon and today was one of them —it’s overwhelmingly beautiful.
