What I Didn't Expect To LOVE About Path Of Exile

The Story of Act 9 in Path of Exile has taken some wild turns and without a doubt it was not one that I thought would be as good as it has been. Returning back to the Highgate to fight alongside Sin has revealed possibly one of the best things about Path of Exile that I have found thus far.

  1. Story? There is a story? I have not noticed in my 25k hour 10-year adventure. I just kill the monsters and collect loot. Oh and also, most veteran players can blast through the campaign in 5-10 hours and then spend 99% of their time in every league in maps and other end game stuff – so I'm inferring in a nice way that this content creator is just getting started (which is excellent since he has lots more stuff to experience).

  2. I remember my first time when I started Poe. Don't let other comments discourage you. Until you realize on your own, that you just scratched the surface of the game by completing the campaign. Don't let this excitement go away.

  3. Attack builds are notoriously hard to scale through the acts typically, spells are a lot easier because the power you get from the passives makes enough of a difference that you don,t need to change loot much except for defenses.

That being said I feel like the title's promise wasn't delivered on in this video and while I watched the whole thing it stung a little bit to not see a big payoff to the prediction. What was it that you didn't expect to love, exactly?

  4. surely he keeps playing past the campaign. The story only just starts at the end of act 10. It may conclude the kitava series with his death, but the story opens up to eldritch horrors that are like 100x the power of kitava and they're only a child. We haven't even seen the adult ones.

Though admittedly the story is a lot more fragmented and spread out, less exposition dumps from NPCs and more killing monsters for loot. But there is a lot to explore, each prior league mechanic having its own lore and there's like 20? league mechanics active right now.

  5. Considering you brute-forced one of that Doedre's key mechanics (you can hide from the scream behind a pillar if you leave it alive, then kill it when the scream stops to remove the pillar's debuff), I'd say you were maybe a smidge ahead of the power curve but I'm glad you're having a good time.

  6. in the doedre fight you were supposed to dodge her scream by line of sighting it with her own pillars, not important if like you you can tank it but once you encounter her in maps you'll be glad to know how to deal with it

  7. I think maps are beloved because this is where you make your build go crazy.

Sky is the ceiling, and you get actual endgame challenges to truly test your mettle.

But you will have plenty of time to try that.

  8. These new to PoE videos randomly get surfaced to me and I'll sometimes check them out. This is the first time someone has mentioned they like the lore. It's really backed by some great voice acting and some incredibly cool history that has been built over many years.

  9. You should try to build Temple of Atzoatl – first find out how it works (first you assemble the temple by merging rooms, then you change the contents of those rooms by killing bosses in other, smaller rooms (you need to make map with Alva mission), and finally, when you have assembled the whole temple, you can go to explore it), one of the best leagues, along with Delve, Syndicate and Heist – but sure, some people like others leagues, and that's just great.

  10. I love your series. Please do not stop after Act 10, as the Campaign is only introducing you to the game slowly, and in maps+end game you need to put it all together. Also, please do experiment with new abilities, that's the beauty of this game – you can make everything work. Just bear in mind not comparing a lvl 15 gem to a newly dropped lvl 1 gem. Use your secondary weapon set to level up gems you find interesting, so you can try them out later (the gems level up simultaneously, even if they are in the unused weapon set).
