Reda seems like a “combat medic” where he is in the front lines, healing folks. However, he also has a few offensive spells he didn’t use much with the black Wolves, so Jill should have encouraged that more. By not asking too high a price for his services, Reda is trying to foster goodwill to help with expenses that the Adventurer’s Guild might not cover. Imagine Hawkeye Pierce from “M*A*S*H*” if he could cast magic spells.
One wonders if his “aiding the vigilante group” might get some extra funding for Reda and his family. Helping Valerie means her brother helps support what becomes a local clinic and apothecary, with Reda as chief healer/“director” and helping those needing healing to get it without worrying about affordability.

The thing was, in the manga, Jill heard that someone wanted Reda but not the rest of the Black Wolves, leading to Jill kicking him out. Spoiler: That was seemingly false info spread by an informant paid by someone else. The person who paid the informant to spread the info wanted to separate Reda from his former team, but not exactly for the reasons Jill thought.
He helped kill demon wolves, he helped take down a dragon, and he even captured a bandit group led by a former teammate. You wonder what his “portions” were (supporting a “growing family” isn’t easy to do without funding)😅
THIS IS SO GOOD
The “vigilante group” seems like the equivalent of the “local police” or “neighborhood watch” put together. But as long as they get good income from the town or recovered enough from the villains to cover costs, it’s good. Given Reda has to sometimes put his foot down or have Luna, Aisha or Naomi act for him, they should be able to get good payoff. Not sure about the going rate for local thugs though.

Give you a clue, I would rather see the water used for food production than lawns. No farmers, no food. I can personal tell starving sucks. If you tax water, you will pay the tax in higher food price and pay for the government middle men pay checks.
It is SO freaking refreshing to find an MC not driven by Greed. The last 10 of these stories I have heard, the MC either became powerful or was already powerful, and the only way they would lift a finger to help anybody is if they forked over some cash. They are the most insufferable, douchebag characters in the world.
That has been the standard MC motivation the last 10 years. The motivation being "I want to become stronger so I can live a peaceful life"
actually is more like "I want to get stronger so I can be a lazy bum and bully everybody unless you give me money".
