What Happens If There’s A Nuclear Attack

Nearly 70% of Americans surveyed by the American Psychological Association said they worry the invasion of Ukraine could potentially lead to nuclear war and they fear that we could be at the beginning stages of World War III.

Researchers estimate there are about 12,700 nuclear weapons spread between nine countries, with the United States and Russia holding the majority, but experts consider an attack to be unlikely. Watch the video above to learn how a nuclear attack could play out.

The world watched uneasily on Feb. 24 when Russian troops, under the orders of President Vladimir Putin, invaded Ukraine.

“The prospect of nuclear conflict, once unthinkable, is now back within the realm of possibility,” U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said March 14.

Researchers and government officials stress that a nuclear attack is very unlikely.

“We are assessing President Putin’s directive and, at this time, we see no reason to change our own alert levels,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Feb. 28.

“As long as these weapons are around, the possibility will always be there that they will actually be used,” said Alejandra Munoz, a project officer at the Dutch peace organization PAX.

Researchers, academics and advocacy groups for risk reduction and nuclear disarmament have written reports detailing what a hypothetical attack could look like and the long-term impact it could have on the planet and society.

  1. A nuclear attack will happen if America continues to support the tyrannical Ukraine regime.
You don't really think Russia will lose the war in Ukraine before they release nukes do you? Democrats really must be living in a false reality. This will be a war like never before seen.
Stop the American tax dollars going to Ukraine for 0 reason! 🇺🇸 1st.

  2. Interesting that the video says if US is hit with a nuclear strike they may strike back? Inferring that the US might not retaliate. Ha even Biden would strike back and he is an idiot.

  3. Just think of the horrors after a Nuclear war.
Zoos will be wrecked and Lions, Tigers, Hyeenas, and Pythons will be on the loose preying on starving Humans. Humans fighting each other for food, dark skies, Radiation sickness and death.
No jobs, no money, no banks, no shops, no mobile phone or satelite Tv companies, no communication, no cars, no planes, no trains, no hospitals, no hope. Just the day to day terror of surviving.

  4. Nuclear War will only happen when the USA pressures the other Nuclear Nations too far and the USA takes the next step in 21st century warfare and launches. It will be the USA triggers the war.

  6. If you are concerned about a nuclear war as I was. Try asking your congressman where the nearest fallout shelter is. I did and all I heard were crickets, nothing I mean nothing. The US Government will all let us die from radioactive fallout then try to provide shelter. In this case the lucky ones will die in the blast, while the survivors die a lingering death from fallout, and starvation.

  7. Wise man once said, ''mankind will ultimately destroy himself''. I may not be that wise but certainly more than that wise man, I say that any man who would go so far as to destroy himself is more accuratly refered to as a deranged man, not "kind" in any way.

  8. I wrote following a month ago – Well if we really do know how to work together when the need arises, than why is it taking so long to abolish the global Nuclear Arsinal? Equality Peace responded to this saying "Well it happened in WWII when USA dropped atomic bomb on Japan", does this mean to imply the neccessity for a repeat performance every 60 yrs. or so?
