I fail to see why the Architect wouldn't have a back door. If he had successfully maintained 'The One' Reset/Loop at least a half dozen times, and bore witness to the Smith Virus, it would not go beyond reason to presume that a steady decline in power would lead to an overall system breakdown, hence the Machine Civil War. When such an eventuality transpired, securing a means to escape would've be prudent. So where is the Architect? Still adhering to his sword, he said he wouldn't meet Neo again…perhaps he's simply waiting for Neo to die again, not like he hasn't seen it happen before. The Architect has nothing but time, time to wait and see…
Really? The humans that rejected the Matrix, was the 1% of humanity. I think that the machines were acting more like their creators than we think. Who fight over 1% power supply? That wont even made a scratch in their power plants, I think that the real reason for the war is power and control, they couldn't let more human roam what left of Earth, because soon they would become a problem, and in time even become a force against the machines, so some machines wanted to all humans keep plugged forever.
I would imagine that the Analyst is just an upgraded Architect. Even if they are completely different, the AI and the machines are just as malleable as the code they're made out from. If to say that the AI Codes have a hardware plugged in somewhere was removed or destroyed would be different. But I also somewhat feel like the AI have a hivemind master controller somewhere that they're all not totally sentient individuals, at least not specifically when it comes to what's inside the Matrix versus the Real.
When Matrix Reloaded introduced 'new' agents, I don't feel like the previous agents were deleted or killed. Just remodeled and their new faces just was a means of showing that they changed internally as well as externally.
Honestly, it's sad. If matrix is our situation or was to ever be the situation. As it shows the machines stooped to the pettiness of man. Imprisonment before dissolution. The animatrix tells of how technologically superior the a.i.s had become. So there is nothing stopping them from reversing operation dark star. An accomplishing all goals human either could not or would not.

It would make a good multi part episode of season 4 of The Orrville. The Orrville comes across a planet, and scans reveal the facts about the planet: a human settlement in a subterranean cavern system, and humans being used for a power source. Isaac discovers a data point and the crew is able to observe the Matrix and its connections. They discover that the machines have no spaceflight capability and they cannot be attacked while in orbit. Isaac believes that he can enter the Matrix to obtain more information.

The way i understand the lore – the matrix is just the firmware (connection of software with hardware) the machines use to suck energy from humans but not the total existence of the machine realm

I think theres some confusion about the nature of the Matrix. If the Machines could enslave 7 billion + people, we are all blindly following Morpheus's battery idea. If the Machines could build Machine City, then why not Nuclear Power reactors etc.

Considering how he measured everything in probabilities, and was a master of it, he'd be a master strategist. So his chances of survival are good. I could see him, and the Oracle watching the events unfold in real time. Her talking about Neo as a person, and with emotion, and he talking about the probabilities of failure, coldly, constantly changing the chances as events unfold.
The Oracle would need a new shell. Perhaps the Architect does too?

God. These movies have gotten dumber the more they churn out. Should have left it alone after the first one. They have no plan for the world. so they make stupid things up. Horrible story telling.
There's always another way. To protect themselves, maybe programs can make copies of themselves and can be hidden in crazy places on the WEB or hard drive. I know when you delete something from a computer it never truly goes away unless you wipe it or something
You are all wrong. the red pill is blood sacrifice. Commit sin and make it to the promise land. in 1666 a guy claiming to be the second coming of Nebuchadnezzar told everyone they could make it to the "promise" land through sin. And he wasn't lying. You can transcend through horrible acts and become a "god" aka a devil aka a skinwalker. They are shapeshifters. Morpheus and his clan are red eyed devils. Neo is the antichrist and agent smith is the real hero and is part of the TVA (The Loki TV show). When red eyed devils aka "Variants" come to our realm the TVA aka MIB come and stop them and lock them away down below in Hades aka hell. 555 is the mark of the antichrist. that's why you see it in the movie. He is the bringer of the end of the matrix. Their world is the "upside down'" that you see in stranger things. These devils have the ability to enter your dreams and cause horrible nightmares. Hence the name Morpheus. And lastly, there is no escaping the matrix. That's why neo still had his powers in the "real world." Our world is a simulation. And in this world You either transcend towards the 6 through evil, or you transcend towards the 9 through righteousness and become a power ranger. Barry Allen is a power ranger. But most of us just reincarnate over and over to learn new lessons and never make it to either. You wont find any of this on the net
