  1. I have born and brought up in chandigarh, i actually think chandigarh need a metro not now but yes in coming years for sure if ? but it will never be a profitable project in future. I saw the development of Sector 48, 49, 50 etc and also railway line to mohali station. I used to play in the farms now turned in to sectors. Main question is where exactly we need it?
Right now chandigarh is not generating any job opportunities. It's limited now because of the land availablity. Mohali and Panchkula doing their part but in housing real estates only. If you had a chance to go near airport you can see new houses only and but just opposite to airport it's industrial area and their development is very very slow. If you got a chance to purchase a house than you can't afford in chandigarh and even in mohale phases, so people used to buy houses in suburbs like kharar, zirakpur, dhakoli etc but they actually work in different locations. Half population of baddi industrial area lives in tricity so they don't need metro. People those who want to go to near by sectors max. 1 or 3 sectors away they don't need metro. So we need a metro but actually after generating more jobs in tricity of all kind.
Metro for tricity not only for Chandigarh which connects kharar, eco city, new chandigarh, maloya, pgi, zirakpur, Panchkula ind. Area, manimajra etc.
You might don't agree with me, so please reply if i miss something

  2. Chandigarh is engulfed by rapidly expanding Mohali, Kharar, New Chandigarh, Zirakpur and Panchkula. In 10 years time it will burden Chandigarh roads heavily! We need MRTS in Tricity. However the question still remains whether people will ditch the luxury of their cars to take up public transportation.

  3. Chandigarh doesn't need metro. It doesn't even need traffic signals. Please reinstall the roundabouts and traffic will keep moving. Traffic signals are actually promoting traffic jams and pollution. It has just become a money extortion tool for the traffic police in Chandigarh.
Each family is having minimum two cars. They use cars to go to even a neighborhood shop, and then blame administration for congestion. Chandigarh is a small city where one can transit easily with bicycle even. On an average, people have to go to a distance of ten minutes max.

  4. I think chandigarh need metro project in present chandigarh development increase as it's tricity so mohali haryana and new chandigarh and etc now population increase this time require metro on urgent basis transportation is not connected with other state properly for example if person want to reach ambala firstly they choose city transportation after that they longer distance transportation it's lengthy time if metro do this on single it's good one

  6. Chandigarh has started to get high amount of traffic jam lately, and it certainly needs a metro to connect with Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, Pinjore. It will need the metro after a few years. Underground option will be great for main city of Chandigarh and elevated in surrounding areas.
