  1. As Joe Gibbs once said "the most important person on your team is your Quarterback. The second most important person on your team is your backup quarterback." Glad to see more QBs in the league that can be a backup for years to come.

  2. Alright, resident Panthers fan who watched that episode maybe 6 times in the span of two weeks. I fully believe Ickey will bounce back. 3/4 were communication issues. That's so unbelievably irregular for a proportion of preseason pressures that I'm of the belief that it's a combination of being undercoached by a vanilla preseason offense, an adjustment to all the new bodies and voices to his right, and good old fashioned human error. In other words, the type of mistakes you make once and never again.

  3. I think we've all been there where we loved a player on film but got peer-pressured to drop them down the board (like Brett did with Herbig). Mine last year was Tyree Wilson early in the July/August range. Also, I think EJ might accidentally have undersold the media hype around Egbuka. There are more tracked mock drafts on Mock Draft Database that have him as a top 16 pick than those that have him in the 16-32 range. It will be a ton of fun to watch that OSU offense. Football is back baby!

  4. I personally don’t think there’s anything to learn from preseason unless a player is really bad. If you’re bad against backups, you won’t be good against starters. If you’re good against backups, we still don’t know if you’re good against starters lol. It’s just not real NFL football in terms of personnel, scheme, and general game speed.

  5. Zay is gonna be good. He's been breaking ankles all offseason but hasn't had a ton of attention cuz OBJ took a lot of it, and JSN gets a lot of the hype cuz he was considered the clear top WR in a weak class. Wouldn't be surprised if Zay was WR1 by the end of the year.

  6. I understand that the advances pre college, like camps and quarterback schools and passing games in high school, have helped players to be ready when they hit the NFL. But, I wonder if football will go the way of baseball. Shorter starting stints. Or arms going out and needing surgery. I mean, how many throws are in an individual arm?

  7. You guys really do have something special with this show. In my opinion you guys are the best football pod there is and hands down the best with the Xs and Os. Really hope this grows and stays a regular thing.

  9. Love the podcast but you guys might want to use a subsonic filter or at least eq out some low frequency peaks.

17:55 to 18:35 was lighting up the subwoofers in my stereo system

edit: either that or get Brett to stop touching the table lol

  10. Commented earlier why not give Rice some props. I should have been more patient. You guys always admit if you’re wrong. Love that about you two. Hard to predict what a player is made of.

  11. You guys are 100% as good at your job as McAfee.

You wont be as popular because your subject (nuanced film review) isn't as attractive to the masses as the subject matter of the McAfee show (surface level, comedic banter)

  12. Nick Herbig gives me Jack Sanborn vibes, could have been middle or outside backer, not a physical freak, but he’s a Badger and a freaking GAMER. Same exact thing can be said for TJ Edwards. Both went undrafted, thankfully Herbig did not, he was better than Campbell most of last year in BIG10 play!!
