Good looking planter! If you need any parts for it check out the planter shop in Colby. That's where I've been getting all mine at.
Looks like a great pickup on both the planter and the wagons. I'm curios though. You state that you'll use it on some of my fields. Do you have separate fields away from the family farm? I would have thought it would have been all for 1 and 1 for all.I understand investing for Your future but is it going to be on the same farm as your dads or are you going out on a separate farm?
How far from home? I have not heard any thing about those planters.
Any addition to the farm where the job is made a bit easier , and hopefully buying bulk fertiliser is cheaper, then it's a good deal. It's always better to work smarter, not harder. Thanks for sharing.
I was looking for a 7000 this fall also, but found a nice 7200 close to home, private deal, all set up for no till, an issue with the monitor but priced right. These JD planters are pretty hard to beat. Simple, easy to work on lots of after market parts and upgrades available. Something to look forward to next spring. Congrats, I enjoy your videos.
There good planters I have a JD 7000 8N and I can grow 200bu+ with it and it doesn't cost a arm and a leg to work on it or to pay for it. It looks like a very nice planter, good luck with it. Around South Dakota we have pretty much all 30" rows and some 22" rows
J.D. 7000 planters were top of the line back in the day. I ran one for years with very few problems. Good find!!
A long time ago I planted thousands of corn and beans with a 7000 12 row, it was a challenge on terraces, a 6 row would have been nice in those fields. As for the 7000 simple machine that is reliable, and parts are easy to find.
Nice! I still run a 7000 planter. All no till. I love it. Simple and dependable.
Happy New Year nice to have equipment to do the job 😊, I am sure the you and dad 👨 will fix them up like New, have a nice day. I need to catch up on your videos and I will
We farm in southern Wisconsin and pick corn into the same gravity boxes
I question how good the old farmer kept things when he left all that fertilizer in his equipment.
I owned a 6 row 30" JD notill planter in the 80's with a monitor and it did a great job.
You have the original 7000 closing wheel bracket your going to want to put the 7200 closing wheel bracket one easier to adjust and change closing wheels. Also the depth wheel arms when you kicked it seemed a little tired there's no bushings in the original depth wheel brackets. The new ones have a bushing and you can adjust them as they wear. I am jealous of your down pressure springs and basically all of your yetter stuff on that planter I want to put that on mine. But looks like a good buy
I planted with a JD 7000 four row behind my JD 4030 for a number of years before I got out of farming. Back in the 1980s when farm prices went down the drain. Clamp a pair of duels on the tractor and go plant, did you get a book with the planter so you can set the population correctly. Over the top of the seed openers is the seed depth setting it’s a cast iron handle just pull it up and slide it to the next hole. To set population just remove the rubber spacers and slide the sprocket(s) to the correct tooth reinstall the rubber spacers. You will need the book for the charts
Thought that was my red toolbox. Knew you were going on a treasure hunt/adventure as soon as I saw that. Thanks
I had one of those gravity boxes with the auger. Former life was used for the same purpose. I fixed it up enough to get some life out of it. I used it to pick up whole corn for the corn stove. Auger worked great to fill the small grain hopper next to the house. Stove corn is much cheaper when you can buy it out of the field. Just drop off the gravity box at the field. Pick it up when they move.
There is a lot of demand for those 7000 planters. Many good modifications and upgrades for them and a lot cheaper to run.
1 pretty sure they're might have been a proud dad moment in there 2 change the closing wheels to straight spikes just my opinion awesome planter it work well for
The first thing you need is a shoup catalog
Like most everybody says, the 7000 is easy to work on, the parts are still available, and they are reliable. Great for small to medium sized operations. I have a 6 row and love it. They run from $3,500 to $5,500 in my area. What are they worth in your neck of the woods? Love your videos. The only way it could have been better is if your dad or Saul went with you to pick it up. 🇺🇲 ❤️
JD 7000 are very good planters. Nice and uniform spacing on corn. The first time you drive down the rows spraying or whatever you will think you're driving over the corn! Especially with 18.4 rears!
Nice score father in-law had a jd 7000 planter and my brother in-laws dad had a jd 7000 planter they are very simple and work amazing if you don’t try to plant to fast
I have a set of 7000 6 row planters. They do a great job for me.
You are so lucky. That planter is a beauty. It never hurts to have a spare grain box.
The John Deere 7000 planner fed the world many times!!
Congrats on the planter and wagons, hope they treat you well. I don't know much about those planters but I know that they are good planters.
We have ran one my hole life we have had no problems
Great awesome video , great buy.
Only thing I know is that One Lonely Farmer likes his enough he just put a bunch of money into his.
Duffy Ag has one too
7000's are great planters, we've had one of years and planted lots of acres with it. Has been pretty much trouble free. Just have had to replace normal wear items and we did update the meters to precision planting meters that helped with plant population a little bit.
Give it a diesel bath
