    I was taking a walk, a pretty summer day, on my suburban street. My neighbor's five-year-old was out front of her house, and I told her to stop carrying her full-grown cat by the neck. "If you have a problem with that, if you don't stop right now, I'm going to tell your mom. How would you like to be carried by the neck like that?" She stopped, immediately.
