Forgot to mention the main reason why you would care about venus tags: Venusophile.
I would swap the tier for city and event tags. I would also bump animals down to B and plants down to A. I think the science combo really sits alone.
Not even a shout out to my tier list XD?
Another way of looking at it would be to say "does the inclusion of this tag make the card better or worse, and if so, by how much".
In the case of the City tag, it feels like a vestigial leftover from the base game that has no use other than to indicate a card places a city, it could be removed and would only impact a very small handful of cards. Curiously, Tharsis Republic is the only card that places a city tile that doesn't have the tag. (Kaguya Tech might be the second)
Likewise the Event tag mostly only exists as a reminder that the card is an event and doesn't actually do anything on its own. There are cards that care about events, at least, but since the tag can never exist in a face-up state, it basically has no use.
As for the remaining tags, building is, in fact the most common in all expansions, the only scenario where it is not the most common tag is some weird combination of expansions specifically EXCLUDING Prelude, which is highly unlikely.
Tragically, the Jovian strategy gets heavily nerfed when you add expansions, not only diluting the pool, the multipliers (your win condition) but many of the new Jovian cards are explicitly NOT space tags as well, meaning that you cannot use titanium production as inroads to a payoff. Furthermore, cards like Io, Vesta Shipyard, Asteroid Mining etal no longer help further the strategy, which is a shame.
Another point worth mentioning regarding Science Tags is that there are virtually no/very few production cards with that strategy, it focuses almost exclusively on card draw and points and more than half of them are blue cards for what's that worth.
I would bump micro to b tier
Interesting vid. But I think you could have made your life easier if you stuck to your definition a bit more; in the beginning you say you basically rate the average quality of cards with the tag, but during the video you rate energy tag and event tag low because, even though the cards are great, the tag itself doesnt hold much value, contradicting your statement from the beginning.
I think Event tag can be moved a little higher. Optimal aerobraking obviously requires a space tag as well but is so valuable, especially in a rush set up. Not to mention media archives.
Great video, as usual! I hear you mention a bit more colonies in this video. How do you like colonies as an expansion? Personally, other than Prelude itโs the best addition to the game. Love the variety, corps, and project cards it adds. Curious to hear your thoughts!
Lol on that card art for Luna Governor!
Love the breakdowns – thanks for making these!
Events on average are probably the strongest type of card. Your criteria at the start is ranking average strength of cards with the tag, but then you put event tag in F tier, which is counter to the entire stated goal of the video. For the wild tag, Research Coordination is 7MC, not 4MC. Don't neglect the cost of buying the card in your analysis. If power tag is F, feels like City tag should be F. The only point of the tag is for diversifier. Jovians are also on average not very strong yet you put it in B. Don't agree with that assessment.
