A listener from Ohio gives his firsthand account of what it is like to live within five blocks of the East Palestine train derailment. A train carrying vinyl chloride derailed and exploded near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border, resulting in a controlled burn of toxic chemicals to prevent a more dangerous explosion. Thousands of residents of East Palestine were evacuated, and the controlled burn resulted in a phosgene and hydrogen chloride plume. Public health advocates warn that the accident is a wake-up call for the potential for more deadly freight rail derailments. Ineffective oversight and a self-monitoring industry that prioritizes profits over safety is responsible for the wreck. About 4.5 million tons of toxic chemicals are shipped by rail each year, with an average of 12,000 rail cars carrying hazardous materials passing through cities and towns each day.

I haven’t called in a while but well basically I don’t know if you guys haven’t really I haven’t really seen a whole lot of coverage about this Nationwide but Friday night a little after nine o’clock I Heard a bunch of commotion outside and I walked outside to what I could only describe as like a hellscape. a train in my town derailed and they were calling for oil and chemicals. and there were Flames hundreds of feet high. I at least headlined that. I had seen that. and there was a mass evacuation. I mean hundreds of people were evacuated because of my understanding. yeah, this crash was about five blocks from my house actually. Wow! It was…yeah it was scary. But basically, so they evacuated us the first night because they said they didn’t know what chemicals were on the train. It ended up with Norfolk Southern, the train company they claimed that they had. It took them like 24 hours to reveal what was even on the train. Right. and I mean you know in the age of computers it’d probably take about five minutes to figure out what was on the train. Certainly shouldn’t take 24 hours because if you got something that’s going to explode like that you would probably want to alert everybody you know all the local authorities right? Like I mean it’s probably having nationalized trains to know this information sooner. without a doubt. We’ll put up some of these pictures. a lot of protesters call these bomb trains. They’re basically these trains that travel at high speeds through residential areas carrying all these noxious and explosive chemicals. and it ended up coming out well there’s been a lot of there’s been a lot of misinformation I will say. And it’s crazy to see it happen in real-time and see news outlets that I thought were reputable parroting things that they hear from these train companies.

The major shareholders of norfolk southern can afford to make all of the victims of this, freakin billionaires. It SHOULD end up being the biggest class-action lawsuit in history.
They knew what was on that train, the conductor in the engine has a manifest with what each car is hauling. That is a law from the federal government, just like truckers has a manifest of what they are hauling. Every fire department and police department should have a quick reference guide from CEMTRECT where they can check the manifest information and know what to use or not use to fight a fire or how far to evacuate from the accident.

Look, for all those theorist's, and everyone with ideas of how the situation could've been handled differently or better… Let's break it down for you.. because not the government, media, or scientists will…..you had 50 cars involved with the derailment… Not all 50 were on fire… Mk, follow me now, whichever cars were on fire… A lost cause.. the reason for the "controlled release"/ controlled explosion…. Imagine how many other cars containing flammable or hazardous materials that were in that train that they couldn't remove due to the fire… Now imagine one or more of those cars exploding without the "controlled release"… You're talking about millions of pieces of shrapnel being sent at least a mile in every direction….. Some Final Destination shit… Therefore triggering more explosions from other cars that weren't on fire… Creating and even bigger tragedy than what took place… 🙌 You clowns get it now?? Yes! It's an unfortunate situation that took place… But it could have been worse and unfortunately… It is what it is… Blame whomever you want, it was an unfortunate event and East Palestine, the Ohio River, etc will take time but it will recover ✌️

In the early 80's, a new dispatcher at the sheriffs office, called and stopped a train over what it was carrying. The sheriff was called in, on a Sunday, about the train being held up. The train was released and the dispatcher fired. He was told that the federal government has oversite and do their job well. It was none of the county's business what was on the train.
Every train car is tracked by a code on the train. The railroad knows where every car is and what us in it.
If the train company drilled into the car, they could have drained the tanker cars into tanker trucks and avoided the contamination of the entire town.
They will determine how the train derailed. Hopefully that will generate new regulation to stop the problems.
This derailment is what you people have been voting for. I say it's well deserved.

Railroad corporations long for the 1800's when they were all powerful dictators and didn't have to deal with stupid American citizens.
They should make electric/battery operated detectors for every hazardous material those trains carry, immediately warning Emergency Services and all residents of imminent danger wth visible/audible instructions for residents in each particular situation. They should be mandatory for every dwelling in all areas surrounding railroads that may be affected and should be bought and paid for by those companys transporting any of that s🤬t. One silver lining, I guess……the employees running the trains during these accidents will no longer need to strike for time off.
