The Battle of Savo Island (aka Iron B Bay) is an incredible story, & shows that the Allies had — to put it mildly — quite a bit to learn from the IJN. The story of the communications muck-up is an epic tale of military blundering. The IJN at this time was just superbly trained … for example, a Japanese carrier could launch a full strike in a little over 20 minutes; I've read that — at Midway — the Hornet took an hour to do the same, and even then most of their planes flew off in the wrong direction. Great post: thanks.
It’s too bad Japan 🇯🇵 was ruled by War Lords.
I am totally addicted to and captivated by all of these "audio book" videos in your series – flaws and all
But this Guadalcanal series is the best – I await every day for the next installment
Please tell us what book this is being read
Adm Fletcher and Turner learned hard lessons along with rest of US Navy in the Guadalcanal operation along with General Vandergriff.
This book gets a lot of facts incorrect but I just wanted to note that a lot of people signed up for the Marines because I thought it'd be easier to fight the Japanese than the Nazis… close call but I believe I would have rather fought in Europe
The campaign was flawed by divided USN comand.
US airplanes did not use 6.5mm machine guns.
You can’t mess with the Coca-Cola Company, Saburo.
😮
Thought it was called "Iron Bottom Sound"?
Loving these storys
