WH40k: Rogue Trader (Alpha) Ep. 16: A Happy Medium

Today, some feud for thought leaves us grasping for crewed solutions. We’re doing our best to find a happy medium, but why did this all happen in the first place?

Just cuz.

00:00 On the level. (Level Up!)
05:45 Feud for thought. (Colony Management)
13:49 Just cuz.
31:32 Crewed solutions. (Combat)
43:45 A happy medium.
54:16 Outro & Special Thanks!

I’m not affiliated with Rogue Trader or Owlcat in any way (though they *were* kind enough to send me an early key). I’m just an oldschool tabletop gamer who loves story-driven CRPGs and turn-based tactical games. πŸ™‚

  1. If this was for real – you know, "what would I do" kind of thing – Idira would get shot. Having an unsanctioned drunkard psyker on ship is just asking to be mascaraed by demons.

  2. Interesting, have to say there's not a small group that wouldn't straight up kill Idira after that event. They wouldn't be exactly wrong to advocate for that either, as she was a conduit for a daemon to enter the ship, her desperation for the old captain gave it a shape to work with.

  3. Incase you do not know force swords channel the psychic power of the user as a weapon making them the perfect weapon for dealing with demons and the like! πŸ™‚ Nothing says safety like a unsanctioned psyker hitting the drink and drugs while travelling in the warp πŸ™‚

  4. I mean realistically speaking killing her would be a good choice. In 40k there is no way to "cure" corruption (exept some really specific cases)
Keeping her alive means it will spread. Obviously it's a video game – we had silimar things in owlcat WotR. Even anevia and wenduag had some happy endings (well relatively)
They will probably add some way to cure her but she looks like 1st companion for the "heretical" rogue trader.

  5. Owlcat taking game liberties here .. as much as I like Idira as a character after something like that she would have had a bolter round in her head regardless of the Rouge Traders wishes .. and then a few more just to make absolutely sure like in Astartes

  6. It's a shame that the first psychic power used in the game doesn't have a daemon pop in and wipe your entire party, that experience is the best introduction to Psykers in Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader I can think of. And it seems unlikely you get to do enough damage to wipe out basically anything in one turn, or "accidentally" burn entire Hive Cities. Psykers (and navigators) are weapons of mass destruction on the tabletop.

  7. Loving your voicework, summary-reading, quick combat choices, and game insight. Keep it up! Picking your way through the save Idira map was masterful. Owlcat must have had many meetings plotting her death. Thanks for the sweet stay-cations every other day.
