We've Been WAITING 42+ Days For This!

🍜 Our Recipe Page: https://www.coghillfarm.com/all-recipes

Good morning from Cog Hill Family Farm! Today, Jason and Miss Holly are thrilled for a bit of much-needed rain after over 40 dry days – even if it slows things down around here! Join us as Jason gives an update on the farm’s happenings, like working on Granddaddy’s tractor with Brooke, getting the new gas tank on, and prepping for the next step in the restoration.

In between showers, we check on all the animals – from cows Moody, Tater, and Mildred to sweet peaches the pig and the mischievous goats who love the rain! Jason shows how the new feed trough is working out with the cattle.

Over in the garden, the cabbage, broccoli, and collards are flourishing, and Jason’s planting cover crops to benefit the soil, pollinators, and our honeybees. Holly keeps him company as he sows a variety of clovers, peas, and radishes. And to wrap up, we pick the season’s first collard greens for supper alongside some cornbread and Brooke’s surprise sweet potato pound cake!

Grab a coffee, sit back, and join the Cog Hill family for another day of farm life – rain or shine!

  1. Boy, Tater Bug came a runnin' when you called her. She didn't even hesitate. So cute. I think she is lovin' her new home. What a wonderful day in deed, Nov. 6th! My 25th wedding anniversary and I know you give silver for that but hubby and I got GOLD today! Praise the Lord!

  2. Living Traditions Homestead, who is just North of me, got 15 inches of rain (and two nearby tornadoes) a couple of nights ago and here in North Arkansas we got 15 inches of rain as well! We got 3 months worth of rain in 2 days! Our ponds are over flowing the Buffalo River is Way past it's banks and some of us are baling water out of our basements. But we're happy to have broken an over 60 day drought.

  4. Good Morning! We are happy with the rain we received here in Southern Indiana. Love that Tater has settled in so beautifully, so fun watching her run for the food bucket. Come spring you will have several dozen eggs for the farm stand.
