  1. Many years ago when I was a Heavy Vehicle Driver with an Emergency Service Organisation in South Australia, the South Australian Police requested that I relocate a 1938 London Double Deck Bus.
Unfortunately My Licence did not cover Buses.
But the Police said not to worry because they would give Me an Escort.

When on the Road I had 12 Police Officers onboard (4 downstairs and 8 upstairs) plus an 8 Motorcycle Police Escort.

Several weeks after the event, the Department of Transport informed Me that at the request of Police My Drivers Licence was being adjusted to include Buses up to and including Articulated Double Deck (Bendi-Buses).

  2. I worked as a self-employed professional DJ for 16 years, doing about 26 weddings every year, and I never cancelled any wedding at all. I got the weddings through starting with the brides 18th and 21st birthdays, the engagement and the wedding. Under those circumstances it just is not possible to cancel. And you don't work 6 days a week if you don't get good reviews.

  3. It looks really good, considering the nature of the job.

Did anyone in the Routemaster community acquire the presses to fabricate new panels, or is salvage the only option when a panel gets wrecked beyond the reasonable point of repair?

  4. it looks a hell of a lot worse than it is. work on it round the clock, have it done in two days. beat out what you can, weld the seam, body fill, can of spray paint, paint it half decent for the rush job, they won't notice the roof. no one looks in the air lol. you should get it done in time. keep the booking fella and the best of british luck to you.

  5. to be fair i watched till about 5 1/2 mins then forwarded to the end to see the finish of the video. well done. now you can relax, take bookings for three buses and do a proper job on it. although you did a decent job for the time you had. matching paint is hard, matching decades old paint, almost impossible. respect.

  6. I used to work at a bus depot and believe me that “bodge” is better than most of the permanent repairs they used to do, which as a bus restorer I’m sure you have found out the hard way.

  7. It's a shame it's a metal roof the repair would have been significantly easier and more time efficient if they were fibreglass, that's probably one of the only advantages to modern buses at least in Australia anyway. Looks good for a quick repair though well done boys!

  8. I'm a professional problem solver…
I'd bet the bride wouldn't care about the repairs made.
Call now and explain the situation to her… let her decide.
Who is going to be up on the roof from the wedding party to see it anyway….
