  1. This episode's music is by Alex Abraham, Steve Goldshein, & Jeff Williams!
I forgot how well the show establishes the basics of Ironwood's character in one go… Also yay for "exchange students"! They're certainly only interested in making friends, right?

  2. I don't want to complain, but I do feel the need to file a complaint. Sol? Soul? Roger? How do we write your name? I freaking LOVE your edits! Generally I tend to watch OAR (and the individual videos) on patreon AND youtube, because all you editors truly bring in a second layer of comedy (and often info) that tickles my brain in all the right places. And your specific flavor of edits perfectly fits into my cupboard of stuff I like. BUT! I think you have to check the audio levels. The audio for the character cards is so much louder than the rest of the video. I freaking adore these cards, but everytime they come on, I get a mini heart attack. And I know not to watch these videos, if my roommate already went to bed or feels poorly, because of these audio bursts. Now, this is a neurospicy household, and we're both quite sensitive when it comes to audio stuff. It might just be us. And if I'm the only one who feels like that, then that's fine and I havn't said anything. But it is something I keep noticing negatively, and if others have these issues too, then it might be worth checking the audio levels.

  3. The funny part for me is Neptune calling Weiss snow angel just after saying he is from Haven (heaven), this work by itself but with the callback to Jaune make it even better.
Also, yeah "intellectual" huh… sure that have aged well lol.

  4. Blake’s interrogation with Ozpin is HILARIOUS in hindsight — no spoilers, for Casper and any new viewers, but…

…well, it’s for the same reason “it’s heiress, actually” becomes really funny and gorgeously bitchy.

  5. This RWBY reaction series is like the closest I've come to getting to be introduced to a new thing by someone else and it's honestly so great. I watch a new episode each week on the day before its corresponding reaction video appears on OAR, and so I get to experience the episode myself (I laughed so much during this one 😂) and then the next day I learn new insights and find out stuff I missed thanks to Mortius! (Also I thought Vacuo's kingdom name was "Vacuole" when I first heard it lol – dang my biology nerd brain!)

  6. Mortius, you've GOT to show him the World of Remnant episodes too, they started at some point during Volume 2, if I'm not mistaken, and they'll explain the world a lot better than the regular episodes do themselves.

(Vaugely spoilery for later volumes of RWBY)

That’s a really interesting parallel. I’m curious to go back through with you guys and view him from that perspective.

Also, the first line that popped into my head was Eury’s from “Puppeteer”:
“Let’s just cut our losses, you and I, and let’s run.”

  8. A tidbit of good dialogue that I thought was left unmentioned here, was how Blake said "I want people to see me for who I am, not what I am." while Sun said in the previous episode "And the best thing about her? She's a Faunus!" fully contrasting how Blake wants to be perceived by others.

  10. The Academies are also a university :3c

Loved picking up the Penny created as a weapon insight.

Keep in mind Ironwood doesn't actually have a plan, he just wants to wave his metaphorical military dick without thinking about the implications.

Yang being super strategic in the game scene is way too slept on, as is the fact she only lost to Neptune due to being so cautious.

I missed Nora's pancake line! XD

    Oooh called out XD

"I love it when you're feisty."

  11. On thing I think often gets glossed over when discussing the writing, is that Miles Luna is actually white passing and not white, so the fact the Faunus character facing discrimination can and does opt to pass is likely reflective of him writing to his own experiences.

  12. The most intriguing aspect of Ironwood to me in this volume is his whole thing about making a show of strength with all of his military ships and other hardware. It certainly fits the kind of mindset you'd expect from a general, but remember that opening monologue Jen Taylor did for the start of volume 1? "But take heed: there will be no victory in strength", she says. So either Ironwood is not in possession of all the information, or he's in denial.

  13. I love this episode of volume two for many reasons. The dialogue is on point, snappy, and comedic. Not to mention you get Weiss being absolutely iconic with not only the board game but the balancing on the chair moment.

And then you have the danger trio coming to Beacon and like always Cinder has that sibilant note when she looks at Ruby, like a rattlesnake or the heat haze of summer or something.

  14. Hi Mortius and Casper! I was just wondering if you woukd be doing reactions to anything else by Lin-Manuel Miranda. If you are, is it alright if I suggest a couple of mysicals? There's In the Heights and Bring it On: the Musical (Lin co-wrote the music with Tom Kitt and the lyrics with Amanda Green).

  15. Snow Angel yeesh, laying it on thick Neptune, lmao. I forgot about that scene. Although it did remind me that for some reason the only RWBY fic I've ever written was a Weiss x Neptune one shot. It was surprisingly less cringe to reread than I feared

  16. Idk if this is a good place to suggest something but whenever you guys look for a new musical, you should try listening to Come From Away! It’s a tearjerker and it’s based on a true story. Anyway! That’s all I wanted to say!
