"American politicians are used to spending money without caring about the deficit. America's public debt has grown almost fivefold — from $6.5 trillion 20 years ago to $31.5 trillion today. The Fed has resolved a number of financial crises by massively expanding its balance sheet by almost 12 times — from $730 billion 20 years ago to $8.7 trillion today. All this works only thanks to the unique status of the dollar," analyst Fareed Zakaria said on CNN. "If it weakens, America will face an unprecedented reckoning."
Congressmen are also sounding the alarm. "I warned that the dollar would be replaced by the yuan a year ago, when Washington decided to wage a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, and now this is happening," Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green said. "The warmongers in Ukraine will plunge Americans into unprecedented economic problems in our entire history if the dollar falls."
