While the Touareg / Phaeton V10 TDI engine would be an interesting swap, I think the engine and 6 speed auto weigh about the same as the mx-5 rolling shell. So with this in mind, I think the more likely V10 you guys would use is the Audi / Lamborghini V10

No way it's the BMW V-10, that had so MANY issues. My bet is on the Audi V-10. I'd put the Viper V-10 as second choice because YouTube and if something is worth doing it's worth overdoing. And that V-10 is so easy and economical (as V-10s go) to maintain.
