If you tell Maata that you're going to Mokupuni then she gives you directions. For the PvE experience, the enhancer fruit pickups are best saved to help evolve Anahir. Saku's got so much stamina it might actually be worthwhile teaching it Noxious Bomb anyway. Except in parts of Tucma and Arbury for obvious reasons, you can always take the airship back to previous islands. I don't think Deendre has Camaraderie so you could have taken it out first. (Not helpful for that dual Raiber NPC battle though, but sometimes wild Raiber won't have Camaraderie so you can take that one out first.)
