What happened with Jon St John? I attended youmacon every year 2010-2016, had no idea things went downhill so bad
They canceled maid Cafe and refuse to refund instead are giving complimentary maid cafes on next year

I’m still going with my friend to Youmacon today. I sure hope I can find my way around the place
As a attendie for MCFC, this is a cluster f, a "kaboom" threat situation was handled way better than this

I think Youmacon publicly apologized for like 7 or 10 things online. Gotta do a video on that man.
Started in 07, was Platinum up until 2020, they wouldn’t let me roll over the badge in 2022 and had Covid protocols despite cobo or the Ren Cen not having any established for a year and a half. Stripping staff of paid rooms and lack of compensation is just the start of a very long rabbit hole.

I stopped going because in 2019, the then head of security mocked a guy in a wheelchair for being mad at his terrible handling of Ada stuff with the lines. I don't think he's still head of security but that guy's a prick and he wasn't immediately fired. The other department heads DEFENDED HIM.
I won't touch a con where that's the guy they gave Ada stuff.

I liked the event regardless of the issues of the event I was able to meet winry from full metal alchemist and find some nice figures. However, I think they need to bring down the price for admission, maybe pay voice actors, and actually be more prepared for everything while structing an event.
Youmacon peaked in 2018. Since then it’s been a slow downward spiral, and the only thing that will save it is new ownership. Ownership that cares and has the finances to support a convention of that size.
I miss when Youmacon got in big Japanese guests and big concerts like Capcom Live. That all stopped after 2018.
Something must be done.

The platnum ticket is 135 more, and if you wanted to go to the Maid Cafe, it was canceled the day before?? … and the maids weren't even going to get paid in the first place… make this make sense.
