"Welcome to Brunkhollow" | Chapter 1 | Brunkhollow | D&D 5e

Many years ago the Meddling Gods were successful in their efforts to claim exclusivity of magic – meaning that (with a few minor exceptions) the only magic that exists belongs to those who draw power from the divine: clerics. It was discovered that for reasons unknown, an isolated area in the wilderness is a blind spot for the gods. Transgressions go unseen, blasphemies go unpunished and perhaps most importantly – clerics are cut off from their source of power.

Our journey begins with 5 travelers as they approach the “Cusp”, the vague line that – when crossed – leaves clerics powerless and outcasts to their own devices.

Welcome to Brunkhollow.

Featuring Matt (the Dungeon Master), Anthony Cascio (T.C. Welker), Erica Ito (Kayt Mori), Deirdre Manning (Morna Istigh), Talon Ackerman (Illien Tyrun), and Jordan McDonough (Doxley Tyrun).

    Hey!

What about this new Campaign, eh?!

Love the new intro, the new art, the new party, the sermon, the new overlays, EVERYTHING! And so many new things popping up already with the rage rolls and the "special thigs"? I love it!

And expect to see these popping up on every CHAPTER (love that word) for as many episodes as we have of Brunkhollow.

    Take care!

  2. Ok I am in love with these new characters already. Everyone is killing it. The fact that this is a western setting makes it a million times better and I can not wait to continue to watch this and see whats with the rolling for rage, why dose he wear the same perfume as his mom, and will they find anyone that speaks orc? See what I did….the thing that matt did last season…I'm proud of this lol

  3. Already watched the premiere on Twitch. Very fun and interesting! Great job! I like the layout of the background, and DM location when in map view. Only thing I would say is : the tack strings are a little thin, kept me guessing for a few minutes there which character was who. The new cast members are going to be awesome. Along with, of course, the continued awesomeness of the previous regulars.

  4. Great first episode while i catch up on the previous season, amazing setting and, most importantly, amazing characters and storytelling!
A single tiny change i would suggest: i don't know if it's on purpose, but i find it a bit off putting that in the scenes in which a map or a battle is shown, the camera shots are arranged so that anyone is always looking away from each other. Maybe there's a reason i didnt get but having studied composition in photography and filmmaking i would suggest switching them, both for clarity and connection with the viewer.
Keep up this level; again an amazing prologue to what i bet will be a great story. 💚

  5. I just came back to rewatch the intro and Matt did such an amazing job at setting up this campaign. There's so much a person looking to learn could get from those 10 minutes alone.

  6. Amazing start of the new campaign! Both the intro monologue and the chase did so much to establish the setting! Sooo curious where this will all go and what homebrews will show up.

    Small bits of feedback:
    * I found the new animated background somewhat distracting. There are clearly some hands doing interesting things behind the video, and it keeps pulling my attention away
    * The layout of player / character is ambiguous as it doesn't match the camera layout. There are 3 vertical where the video is 3 horizontal. Excuse the terrible ascii art, but instead of:
    . .
    . [ ] .
    . .

Maybe with some minor shuffling it could be
    . ..
    .. [ ] .

  7. Sincere question… Why dont you use the digital map to illustrate the scene directly? Like, even before everyone rolls initiative? Is it bc, if it resolves in a peaceful dialogue you save the time?

  8. Whoo! A new series I can get into from the start without feeling overwhelmed from getting left behind! Hell yes. I love this channel.

OH MY GOD. THAT MONOLOGUE, THAT INTRO. HOLY SHIT.
