When HMS Dreadnought was new and the 20th Century was just beginning, weird and wacky designs cropped up all over the place. Some of these were weird gun layouts, strange and bizarre decisions in armor or speed…
And some of these saw the torpedo as the primary weapon, even for an ostensible battleship. These are the topic of today’s video, at least for the American design concepts.

The Russians also designed a similar vessel with even more submerged tubes about the same era prior to WWI
Looks like a possible premium ship in WOWS in the future.
Please do the carrier battleships and touch on the carrier cruisers (some actually made).

It's amusing to imagine a USN that decided to embrace the torpedo battleship concept long before the IJN came up with the idea to throw torpedo walls.
Play Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts or Rule the Waves and you can design these ship and see how they would have worked. My guess – not very well !

The early 1900 must have been such an innocent time when a man could still proudly and at the top of their voice proclaim a ship "Unsinkable" without sending every bystander screaming and panicking in search of a life vest or a good fat opera singer with plenty of reserve bouoncy.
