Week 14 instant reactions: Bills' stunning loss, Darnold’s hot streak, Seahawks lead NFC West

In this week’s Inside Coverage, Jason Fitz and Frank Schwab react to every game from the Week 14 NFL Sunday slate. Fitz and Frank start with some of the more interesting outcomes, including the Kansas City Chiefs escaping with a close win on Sunday night and the Buffalo Bills’ stunning loss to the Los Angeles Rams, as Josh Allen’s historic fantasy performance wasn’t enough to save them. The Minnesota Vikings beat the Atlanta Falcons, as Sam Darnold continues to shine while Kirk Cousins struggles, leading Frank to wonder about Minnesota’s offseason plans. Over in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks asserted themselves as the best team in the NFC West, dominating the Arizona Cardinals, with Frank predicting they’ll win the division.

Later, Fitz & Frank dive into the rest of the Sunday slate. In Tennessee, the Jaguars handed the Titans another blowout loss, leaving Frank wondering if it’s time for a major rebuild. The Las Vegas Raiders’ nightmare season continued with a cheap shot injury to Aidan O’Connell, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seized control of the NFC South. Are the San Francisco 49ers still alive in the NFC playoff race? Fitz and Frank break down all the key takeaways, with a special focus on how the Bills, Vikings, and Seahawks stack up for the playoff push.

  1. I think, when you add elements such as – they TOOK TWO KNEES, JUST TO DELIBERATELY RUN OUT THE CLOCK TO ALMOST NOTHING WHERE THEY WANTED IT, TO SET UP THAT "FG for the win"…

This Chiefs team is now deliberately trolling us, at this point. You don't do, what they did last night, if you're not doing it completely on purpose.

  2. Regarding Seattle –

If there is one reason why the Rams still have a very viable path to taking the West instead, it's going to be because of Seattle's own stretch where they'll be tested, as you alluded to.

The Seahawks, it needs to be noted, have not been a very good home team this season: Four of their five losses have all come at home (the one that didn't, was in Detroit). So the fact that their two toughest opponents remaining, will both be home games – I think we have to look at the very real possibility that they'll lose both those games, and therefore end up limping into their regular season-ending showdown with the Rams, at 9-7.

Further: The Rams don't necessarily have a glide path – besides Seattle, they have their second games against Arizona and San Fran still to come. But it almost feels like it's easier to imagine the Rams being the one going into that final game as the one with 10 wins, rather than Seattle. By far, the Rams' biggest remaining test, was the one they just passed yesterday – it is not inconceivable that they could very well end up winning out from here.

  3. Miami is NOT tied for the last playoff spot, they're tied for – "if any of the three teams that ARE in Wild Card spots right now falter down the home stretch, this is the team that's going to step in and take over".

  4. The problem is that they didn’t win. It’s the mental kind of thing. When the Chiefs take the field the entire team knows that Mahomes will get it done. When the Bills take the field they think no matter how great Allen is they can still lose. That’s why they will always lose to the Chiefs come playoff time.

  5. I really don’t know why I’m listening to this still. Just for Schwab to tell me that TJ Watt and Puka are awesome? You guys should listen to the Yahoo College Football Enquirer. That’s a show that’s worth listening to.
