Weapons and Warfare in the Prayer of the Church

A talk given in Rochester, MN on March 7, 2024.

In my talk, I show some of the many ways that the traditional Roman liturgy recognizes, with realism and supernatural hope, the true state of affairs in which we are involved: a state of battle against the world, the flesh, and the devil. The Church here on earth is not simply “on the pilgrim’s way”; it is rather a militant Church. I then contrast this with the “pacifism” that has taken possession of the new rites.

  1. Thank you very much for this lecture. It covers a subject very much neglected, but with tremendous consequences for both the world (in general) and each one's spiritual life in particular. The post Vatican II Catholics, who have been served from their first days in the Church with this emasculated spirituality and theology would very much benefit from listening to this talk. Our Lord Jesus is not only the Immolated Lamb, but also the Lion of Judah.
