We Used To Go There Before It Was Cool | Hipster Cafe (Cafe Builder – Early Access)

Hipster Cafe is a cafe builder game where we build the most hipster of cafes! Why sit on a chair when you can sit on a toilet? Why eat from a plate when you can eat from a shovel? Why not pick up a new hat from our lovely hatstand?

We start off with a big empty space, which in itself is quite hisptery, but we soon add some tables, chairs and even a few lovely entertainment things like a pool table and a BitCoin machine!

Our menu is also pretty empty at the start so we add some fabulous things to it, like a wonderful cheese, egg and asparagus combo, and even a cheese, egg, cookie and tomato tower, plus who could forget the amazing corn dish we lovingly prepare…

There’s also coffee to design, decorations to hang on the walls and staff to hire, all with that delightful hipster twist!

NOTE: This is the Early Access version of the game.

Ever wanted to design, build and manage a café on your very own home computer? Really? OK then… welcome to HIPSTER CAFÉ.

-Make stupid food, serve it on a skateboard, and impress your friends by drawing in your coffee.
-Is that a utility object or décor? Customise your space to keep it at the cutting edge of design.
-Fill your café with the latest greatest entertainments and distractions. You should probably put an axe throwing range in your café, that seems safe.
-Keep up to date on the latest trends on social media, send out a Toot with the right hashtags before the Hot Take timer goes out.

Use your trust fund to buy up some old warehouse building in the run down part of town then market it to the nouveau riche in a cynical attempt to drive up property prices. Can you successfully navigate the shifting waters of pop culture in order to market your eatery to the hippest demographic?

Developed in the Loading Bar in the hipster centre of Dalston, London by a bunch of hairy people who work as ‘freelancers in media’, Hipster Café is a simulation game based on very real life experiences. In it, you must serve up a menu based on the latest trends, research more obscure coffees and entertain the Hipsters by building up a map of ridiculous furniture.

  1. The tower of cheese didn't do the work unfortunately ! So much fun I hope you'll play a little more of this game. You made me laugh with this one. 😄

  2. Lol, you can eat out of a urinal, why is a urinal hipster? xD Tbh, that doesn't sound too abnormal. But then again, I consume a lot of japanese media. In Japan they have a restaurant themed around toilets. Yes, you can eat out of toilet shaped plates. The food seems to be pretty bad though, according to what people say.

  3. I wonder, if you bought the extra menu board in decorations, could you have double the dishes?

Also, you were trying to put all the chairs in backwards. They do fit.

  4. WoW! A MASSIVE amount of love and detail has gone into this game. The dedication to detail is absolutely wonderful!! The names, the menu, the meals, the 'likes' customisation. The intuitive drawing ob the coffee! The characters and constantly changing hilarious trends!! Tooter! And the humour!! LOVE it!!

Devs: Add a "Flat White" – Australian Coffee – it's the best!
Also, old factory/warehouse building backgrounds – you know…exposed pipes and wires and rocks, rough floors, tree-trunk bench and seats, bean-bags, animals (cat/skunk cafe) and stuff…

  5. We're having tea… but in proper tea mugs, not from the teapot or off the spoon. I played the demo of this game today and it was loads of fun. Mr. Penge, I learned quite a bit from watching you play. There were quite a few things that I didn't learn about as I was playing, but that I've seen you do. I'll have to go play this again and see what I can do with it.
    – I've actually never seen a hipster cafe… Lethbridge wouldn't know what to do with one if one moved in! There just aren't any "hipsters" here… or maybe I've just never seen them. I had no idea that there are people who want to eat out of dog dishes. LOL
    – You chose the same floor as I did, only mine was red. Yellow and red for my cafe. I found the research went far too quickly… I've never said that about any game before. LOL But now that I'm seeing the whole game research tree, I can see why… there's a LOT more to research than in the demo! I loved the descriptions for the foods… and kept most of the titles and all of the descriptions for them. I made more money in "tips" (which is actually what the hipsters pay for using the various things in the cafe that aren't food).
    – "Shooing" is when they kick people out for sitting at the tables with their computers too long.
    – The not-chairs have to be turned so that the green is on the back, not next to the table…. like the chairs do. It's sort of the opposite to what you'd normally do with a chair in most other games.

  6. The green squares are reversed from the norm, it shows behind the seat. You're trying to place the backless chairs backwards at the table. For example, the chairs you have against the wall, if someone sits at it, they will be facing toward the wall.
