  1. one of the main things that seem to have us the most detracted is materials tech. our ability to contain energies we need in sufficient storage or the ability to manipulate matter in a way we can construct what we need from base elements and subatomic particles. We're close commercially, I have no doubt some usap somewhere is using some "breakthroughs" exclusively even now and developing other nice tech in the wake as well.

  2. I blame the Varantekar (hope my spelling is okay), they should have known the possibility of a race of primitive beings learning the message and opening a "Pandora's Box" unintentionally, like 5 year-olds randomly pushing buttons in a missile launch control room. Should they not have thought of placing a cosmic kill switch or circuit breaker in case someone accidently activating the Galaxy Dump sequence. DUH! 🙄

  3. Not a bad story, but some important parts don't make sense. With as far as the light from the others stars had to travel, this story would have to unfold over thousands of years. By the time it reached the point where scientists started working on a solution, it would have been scientists from multiple worlds. Mars, the moon, Titan, maybe. Not to mention, if power was failing so they had no light to work by, how were computers still working? Not to mention the factories and. or machine shops needed t work on the parts for the device and, of course, powering the new signal.
