We Played Yu-Gi-Oh Dungeon Dice Monsters in 2024!

We got our hands on the Yu-Gi-Oh Dungeon Dice Monsters starter set from way back in 2003 and tried it out in 2024! Just like Yugi against Duke Devlin! Does this game actually hold up today and is it any good?

  1. IT'S TIME TO DIMENSION THE DICE!! 🎲🎲
We had a lot of fun getting our hands on the product and making this video! It was a bit difficult to set up (we had to super glue the figures down to their bases and tape the mat to the table, but it worked out) and record, but hopefully you all enjoy it! There's actually a lot of depth to the game and even a huge fan community on Etsy that recreate the figures, dice, counters, and even make custom playmats, so this would be fun to revisit if people want to see a more intense, full experience! 5000 Likes and we'll try to make it happen!

  2. I own the base set and over the years I have spent a lot of money on getting my hands on the original expansion sets and have bought some of the unopened packs. And playing the game with the full board and having more monsters really open up a lot the thing I have found to change the dynamic of the game are the item cards, but those are pretty hard to find.

  3. Can't wait for part 2 (over 5k likes lol) but I've been thinking, we could bring this back with 3D printing nowadays. And not just the original games characters, but other ones, though ruling on special abilities would get a little rough I'd assume when making cards.

  4. I loved DungeonDice Monsters since I first saw it on the anime, I even got the same base set when I found it available. Unfortunately it wasn't very well made. My major grievances with it were that it has only one of each opened dice shape available for each player, and that the paint on the dice got scratched way too easily, even with careful handling. Then I found out about the Game Boy Advance game and got that too, which was quite fun too.

  6. Hm… Honestly I can see easy ways to improve this or make improvements to how Konami could merchndise this again.

Easiest solution would be make it a new video game with updsted monsters, effects and such to keep it cheap. They probably would want to make it a gacha game though like Master Duel but it still be cheaper most likely with how they would make the monsters and effect cards they could make with a much smaller pool of monsters/spells/traps to start. Though we could see added different monsters and such from different versions of Yugioh like Rush Duels since they literally have the Dice Key girls who would be perfect starter/mascot girls for a Dungeon Dice Monster game along with UI/menu guides.

Then you have the physical game they could try start up again. Making paper/cardboard single square piece to make moduale dices would be easier to sell/cheaper to buy but probably be annoying. Make cardboard pieces like these again that hold sort of better but no modulation. Make plastic dice that cost more but can still be modular and can connect better to your opponents dice as well.

Instead of having unique figure designs for each monster as well, have figures that represent the monster types. Also you can have stickers or specific player square cards to reprsent the monster on the dice to make em cheaper to buy figures or simply have each generic figure have some kind of indicator for what is connected to what with a underside magnet or something with different color?

Probably can work shop these better but this still have potential even more with the new tech we have now in the modern day.

  8. Stunk the game never caught on. I would bring it to my locals and the people that wanted to try it had fun with it.

There was a Gameboy dungeon dice game that I played so much,

Also. Interesting fact, the Japanese version of the game has dice that do fold out into the pathways.

  9. It just seems way too difficult to play. It's almost like a hat on top of a hat. I could see this being fun in video game form, though. But as it was in the video with the cardboard and duce and cards, it's just no fun.

  10. Honestly why not just 3d print them? You could get someone to to give you specs on them and just print the entire game yourself. Probably be ALOT cheaper than buying decades old collectibles

  11. Been thinking of trying to make rules for Dungeon Dice Monsters + Heroclix. If you haven't seen Heroclix at your LGS, its a minatures game with DC/Marvel characters and some others IPs like Yu-Gi-Oh. There was like 3 sets of it, wish it kept going. I love the rules of DDM and think 3d printing tiles, a board, and using Heroclix from either Yu-gi-oh or DC/Marvel would be killer.
