Today we are getting our first freighter, starting to build it out, adding to our fleet and doing a derelict freighter for upgrades! As always I’ll give you my tips and tricks for getting freighters and frigates but make sure to check the comments for more tips.

How did you know the next system you went in will have a freighter battle? Did I miss that?
My only complaint is that frigate modules need to be more accessible.
So what is the trick to ship fighting? I am having a hard time lining up on the ships so I think I must be missing something.
I use almost exclusively Support Frigates. Once you get all your S-class freighter upgrade modules from Derelicts, Support frigate numbers are amazing no matter how low they start at. With the modules installed, any 2 support frigates can 5-star any mission. I reroll frigates for their modules (-fuel cost, -% duration, etc) more than their stats, because the stats just don't matter in the long run.
Another tip for getting frigate missions rewards for anyone that has access to them: Expedition Reward frigates cannot take damage. You can send out the Normandy (for example) on any mission by itself, and it will always complete it successfully without damage.
When you only have one frigate, it can't be harmed or destroyed. You can't have a freighter with less than one frigate. So your frigate is safe to go on 3 star missions without worry. Once you have more than one though, you got to be careful.
Love the new freighter battles they added a while back.. Finally a good space battle every now and then!
If you decide to upgrade your freighter later, anything you build will transfer over ok (there used to be problems with transferring a base) but any tech you install will not transfer
Helios at the anomaly gives one of those scanners free each week
I think you hit another ship that was flying thru the asteroids. That was added recently, other ships mining asteroids
its funny that since ep 2 bob is lost on the number of episodes always miss the number , thanks to you i started playing again , last save 2020 damn so much change
You can get supports to over 20 in all stats by leveling them up (I have 5 between 18 & 24 in each stat)
Your my boy blue great ship name I'm going to buy no man sky next paycheck for my ps4
You can pulse around the system , the freighters follow, just rinse and repeat until you get an s class
WRT frigates there's only really 1 stat that matters (& never changes): the fuel cost. Low numbers & maluses will go up to max/vanish over time the more & longer expeditions you send them out on, similar to Settlement rank ups, so they're far less important upon purchase IMO
Support frigates reduce fuel usage of the expedition fleet they're with, so they're well worth picking up; other than that, try to match at least 1 frigate type to the expedition you're sending it on to maximise reward
Just a reminder, if you don't own the freighter it doesn't create a restore point when you leave your ship on it. Only creates a restore point if you own the freighter. So if you win the freighter battle you can land on the freighter, check the class, and if you don't want it you reload the restore point and it will take you back to the previous system before you jumped. You can keep doing that until you get the freighter you want. If you like the type of freighter and want a better class just set a waypoint on the system before you jump and make another restore point at the station before jumping. That makes it easier to find the same system again.
I like support frigates for balanced missions. Once the stats get up you can send just one or two ships and use very little fuel. I look for the highest stats I can find in mission types and fewest possible number of expeditions. Eight or less for C class usually. I also like the mission type stats to be as even as possible. Of course they are rarely very even so after I hire them I will send them on specific type missions with other frigates to get their low stats up. i.e. Support frig has low combat rating so I send it on combat missions with combat ships to get that stat up.
7:24 "As soon as I hop out here, it's gonna create a new save…" Actually, no. This is a weird case where it doesn't create a new save, because you don't own the freighter. So if the freighter is crap, you can reload from a prior system and warp again to get a new freighter battle.
Your ship name could be Blue Horizon.
I’ve got an A class on the 3rd try
One of the wildest glitches I've ever had in No Man's Sky was when I was trying to board a new freighter. When I got outside of my ship, my character was placed floating in the middle of space! I quickly died, but then I respawned on the outer surface of the Station! I died pretty quickly again. XD
Hi Bob, just FYI, when you land and get out of your ship in a freighter that doesn't belong to you, it does not create a new save point. Great videos!
I believe that the white dot when you were looking at the exploration screen was showing that there was a single positive trait. Poor traits show up as red dots. As the frigates level up they get more bonuses, so more white dots.
Sentinel ship should be named ultron I think
Enjoying the series.
Can you consider putting your Livestream in their own playlist? I watch them in smaller chunks of time.
Hope you are well.
Wondering what production you are working on?
How did you get your ship doing that much damage?
Took me 11 tries but I got an S-class Pirate Dreadnought yesterday.
I found a sweet S class HammerHead system freighter in the expedition… of course. Can't take it home with me.
I send 1 support frigate with 4 others depending on the mission type. It reduces fuel cost of the whole fleet and they bring back more stuff.
I have a couple of those harvester things on my freighter as decorative parts in the engineering deck, but I never think to check them. They take forever and they reset when you warp, so almost worthless other than they look cool.
Best source of frigate modules is whacking freighters in Pirate systems. Gotta be careful now though and make sure you only hit the cargo pods and guns, the freighters can be destroyed before you get all the loot out of them if you shoot up the hull too badly.
Me, watching Bob name the containers 0,1,ETC: Hmm.
Me when Bob explains why: OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I learn something new every time I watch. Thanks for the tips Bob!
I don't know if it matters much, but when I send out a frigate group for the missions, I tend to send one of each type in each group.
That Derelict Freighter run 😂.
Game over, man. Game over. 😂
did research too on the frigates and it seems like you where saying.
survival bob makes me smile
Question is, why can't you cook on the freighters? You need to be on a planet.
Bit ridiculous if you ask me.
They should add a kitchen to the freighters. For some reason I like cooking in this game 😂
I do wish that getting frigates wasn't so annoying. I swear I am staring at one, but NOPE the one behind me is the one which is communicating with me and flips me around. I get so turned around trying to check them out that I usually just give up after a few minutes and try again later.
Also if I read correctly, now that you have a freighter you can start seeing the dreadnaughts. I also seem to remember reading that getting a dreadnaught is actually free so no cost to "upgrade". The problem I have is my current freighter already has some upgrade modules from doing those dungeon runs and I would loose all of them. >.< If only it was the basic tech I so would. Oh well.
