Apollo is our 11-year-old, pure-bred Friesian he is a good horse for a beginner rider. He has a lovely collected canter and is a great farter. He is herd leader over Farouk who is a pure-bred Arabian horse, Farouk is 9 years old and loves galloping and is a good endurance horse. He is the Grandson of the famous Marwan Al Shaqab and then there is Princess Bella a Four-Year Old pure-bred Andalusian filly her speciality is bucking and jumping for joy.

It’s easy to see “racing up heart attack hill” and training over ascending and descending landscapes has prepared him well for this portion of the endurance course. Farouk makes everything seem almost effortless! He truly enjoys competitive endurance!
Hi Tara and Rens, Farouk is so sleek and athletic it seems odd when he stumbles but as you say he doesn't waste any energy lifting his legs up high like Apollo does. Both Farouk and Apollo are wonderful and beautiful in their own way. ❤❤

I so appreciate you talking about the differences in Farouk's and Apollo's gaits. Friesians seem to be the horse du jour in fantasy tv and movies- but in real life they're not the choice for long distance, are they. They're very beautiful and Apollo is a particularly kind and willing gentleman but still… There's a reason Arabs are known for their comfort and endurance. 🙂

I once rode a 20 mile ride on a Tennessee Walking horse. Oh my goodness was that a comfortable ride! Like riding a rocking chair.
That was nice meeting another rider. Such a nice area to ride and so far well marked.
Farouk is loving the running areas not to happy with the walking areas. But all in all very nice. 🐴🐎❤️❤️👍🧑🦳

Yep totally agree. We don't want to ride horses with big movement too far or for too long when we get a bit older. It's hard work, as fun as they are. That track looks like our tracks her in Victoria, Australia! Standardbreds make fabulous endurance horses (as do Arabs of course). They're very hardy and non flappable usually and i guess if they pace it can be quite comfy although I prefer the ones that just trot normally. Their canter is usually a 4 beat so it can be very comfortable. I ride them all the time where I trail ride and also owned a couple years ago. Quite different to the quarter horses I ride in my Western riding. Love this video by the way. Yes, the stones can really slow you down. Great job Tara, thanks for this amazing video.
Watching this latest video and I came to the realization why I really enjoy watching them….many reasons but basically because you talk as you ride and I actually feel as if you are speaking to me – as if I am riding right along side you. I no longer own any horses or ride anymore – except with you….and I SO enjoy our rides! Thank you for sharing with us all! ~ Vicki

The country side is really beautiful. It is lovely to know that there are bridleways and walking paths all through the area, so people can enjoy it. As always, you and Farouk are stars. He is so fluid in his gaits, it makes it look effortless. Interesting about the lady with the retired pacer. How did they make out? You meet so many interesting people who love horses!

I've gotta say it makes my heart sing when walking or trotting, you have Farouk on a loose rein. It tells me he is really happy to be doing these endurance rides. I completely agree that staying with novice rides is sufficient. He does seem to settle into his body.
