  1. My home state and have hunted for many years. Mule deer are my favorite species to hunt and have harvested some very nice bucks. My personal opinion is that Colorado needs to go back to an antler point restriction, 3 points or better. Let the smaller bucks breed, this will create more deer and also this will allow them to mature and grow bigger antlers. The more we as hunters keep harvesting the spikes and fork horns, the buck to doe ratio declines and the number of deer declines due to them not being able to breed and mature. Thanks for the great video and information. Job well done Mathew. Enjoy those hunts with your father just like I have.

  2. Matthew and Randy, a wise old man, friend, and guide told me years ago, "you can't eat horns" and old bucks and bulls can be pretty rank to eat" , but that said nice buck, and good time spent by father and his son. Memories last a lot longer than the deer steak does. Well done!

  3. I scouted that unit two years ago looking for elk. Saw a few decent bucks. Nothing I would've considered "big" but some good up and comers. Great content as usual Randy. Thanks.

  5. Montana is worse. A biologist told me mule deer are down 70-80%. According to FWP, 29% of total tags are nonresident. And every dead buck I see is a young one. I don't think most guys know what a mature buck looks like.
