Absolutely huge community cast today that turned into a two hour discussion about the future plans for Escape from Tarkov. Almost everything that can be talked about was talked about. Huge thanks to the Emissaries and of course Nikita for doing this.

Although I do sometimes get a hand from BSG and occasionally get to talk to Nikita or other members of the team, I do not work for BSG. I also work entirely off public information and past experiences of working in game dev myself, as well as following this game closely for several years. Unless I state very clearly otherwise, the information you’re about to hear should be taken as speculation. You can either get no information or speculation, that’s all we have to go off of these days unfortunately which is why it’s easier to just say Thursday whenever anyone asks for dates. If you want hard facts and dates you won’t get them, period.

So I was wrong to be that confident about the GRU. Still believe they'll have the UN or Russian Regulars work like them though. Also the stuff about the Auction House which was translated so these things can happen. BOTH still completely possible to come to the game just need to readjust expectations on them. 😎👍
Beyond the obvious hype for streets, I’m super excited for arena. Great way to practice and run stupid kits without risk. Also being able to shoot my buddies with no repercussions is fun
Wait, are the GRU in the game?
That perma death/reset account shit is stupid af IMO
<33
Sooo stoked for the dlss coming to the gamee, it'll help soo many players that have fps issues!!!!
Another garbage idea for the game = point of no return… It will only make the game worse for bad players, and for the avarage or above ones, zero changes. Idk nikita some times think ppl want a real life simulator game, he forgets that games need to be fun, not something to be stressed about.
I would 1million% barter with scav, sounds dope and makes the game feel lived in haha. It is a fin and relaxing break from constant pvp
Very pleased to know AMD FSR is also coming to Tarkov, my next GPU will be RDNA3
yep tarkov going to become a dead game once nikta stupid ass puts in perma death system that require you to wipe the game to keep playing like fuck that.
if that how it gonna become i might as well play with hacks to enjoy the game since ur gonna force me to wipe 1-4 month down the road
The audio problems the game has I don't think is steam audio's fault. Veritas, and Eroktic have made videos show casing the games audio problems. I think the issue is BSG's implementation of steam audio combined with them leaving their really badly made audio occlusion in the game. I'm not really surprised that BSG wants to blame other people for their own shit though. They've done this in the past.
Radiation I’m completely fine with was planned for ages and implemented right could be good now bsg sucks at implementing things and the perma death thing is completely just not needed and too far and I heavily hope they consider re wording that because that will actually kill the game after all the other bs this player base has been put through
The way they go about that radiation feature can make or brake this game
GRU would have to shoot BEARs as well. Both are the bad guy in Tarkov. The only way they could make a BEAR equivalent of Rogues is to do exactly that — make Rogue BEARs. GRU are counter-terror SOF. They wouldn't spare BEARs just because they're Russian.
DLSS only helping in 2k and 4k? Well, looks like I'm still not playing. It's unacceptable that I struggle to play above 60fps on a fucking 3070. Fuck BSG. I've been playing this game for 4, almost 5 years and there hasn't been a truly appreciable performance update ever. I don't give a fuck about Streets if it's gonna run 20 fucking fps the whole god damned time.
actually losing the game and having to restart (considering how much grind there is in this game) would be a terrible edition to tarkov. Actually one of the worst things i heard and i hope they go rethink that one.
would we still be able to play this game if war brakes out with the US and RUS??? That is something me and friends talk about a lot.
Feels like bsg has had enough and want this game out ASAP,
I love how real this game could be. IRL. Plz take my money lol
The UN is corrupt af so that could be lore
It seems stupid to add a point of no return on a game that you literally die. Dying is a point of no return, we should wipe on every death, then it would really be good, i don't fear resetting, i do that a ton fuck, but it is really, REALLY, stupid to add something like that.
When you say Auction House… I hope to Cthulhu you're not talking about a real money Auction house
I kinda love the Idea of perma death or at least you beeing crippled permanentaly. also I'm guessing if they make it a feature they'll probably integrate it completly into the escaping theme so you have to go into these zones to progress within the story for certain quests. we already have meds that have the stat of "remove radiation" like goldenstar so I'm not that worried about that stuff. they'll hopefully give the gas masks (and pestily mask because funny) some functions against it. and maybe some clothes you can buy from ragman thats just this bright yellow suit or something to give some resistance would be cool. People forget that the full game actually was/is supposed to be a pretty different game from at the moment so I really think it would fit perfectly.
nikita himself knows the high quality recaps are coming hahaha 😂
Hey, Nolan, if you get a chance to talk to any devs at BSG, ask them what is to become of the Ultima in tarkov due to that lawsuit with Oceanic's Ward-B claiming that Kalashnikov stole their shotgun concept in their game. Like if Ward-B wins, does that mean they will have to remove it? Or would they have to remove it during the longevity of the lawsuit?
I totally agree with a "game over" scenario.
I hope BSG does fall too much into silly ideas that sound good on a podcast but does not really work from a gameplay perspective.
it would be awesome if they add a co op mode where you and 3-4 friends/ others have secure a location where the scavs are defending like 5 different points on customs where you can die and loose your gear but can be revived only once per player or once per run on high difficulty
"We want to simulate real life experience." Okay, then why is the recoil like 200% that of real weapons? Why can I jump over chest high walls with strength levels? Why do scavs, who often have zero military training, instantly headshot me? Why are PMCs (military training) drastically less capable of killing me than some random crime boss from potato land? Why do traders make me do absurd quests, like "become dehydrated," "kill 20 PMCs while in pain," or "kill 30 PMCs from over 300 meters with a gun using a suppressor, laser, and a EOtech(tm) Vudu optic"? IRL people would just want you to make them money in a warzone for the most part, not troll you with suicide missions. Trolling PMCs is bad business and would earn the traders a terrible reputation. "Deliver 10 GPUs" makes more sense than "do a backflip handstand while headshotting Shturman in the head with a Makarov while on crack and snorting Emelya dust." Some of the Mechanic builds are just unbelievable. Who wants a magazine-less sniper rifle with a visible laser? Why does random streamer junk sell for more than a rare battlefield commodity, like medical supplies and ammunition? Why is a skin transuminator (LEDx) worth 1 million roubles? MSRP is around $750 USD, 900 at most. 1,000,000 roubles is over $13,000. Transluminators are not even necessary to perform injections or blood draws, because phlebotomists almost always use the old fashioned technique involving tourniquets, which I've experienced personally. If a scav can figure out how to inject drugs on the streets of Tarkov, then Therapist simply doesn't need one. I doubt they would be in extremely high demand.
Why is M855a1 so rare? The UN and USEC would primarily use M855a1 in their rifles (M4 carbines) because it performs better out of short barrels than other rounds. M855 had accuracy issues and was dropped. FMJ was also dropped and is really only used by civilian shooters. You could make an argument for SOST, but it tends to get issued for special purposes IIRC. Why is .308 so rare? USEC would carry quite a lot of .308 weaponry, since a lot of PMCs and special forces operators prefer it over intermediate cartridges. Why is Igolnik so common? I find it almost every time I hit open ammo boxes. I have nearly half an ammo case full of it. Igolnik, as far as I understand, is still an experimental round, and would be nearly impossible to find in a place like Tarkov outside of armories.
Why do EOtech sights not work well with night vision? Several variants have NV settings, which turn the brightness down to a barely-visible setting so it doesn't blow out under NVs. EOtechs are often cited as some of the best unmagnified optics for NV use IRL. Why can I aim down sights with the PVS-7 clone? It's almost impossible to get a sight picture with a centered monocular.
Why is recoil on intermediate caliber rifles so high? Experienced shooters can keep an AR muzzle flat while shooting rapidly on semi auto. I imagine the same is true for 5.45 rifles. Why does the VAL kick so hard? 9×39 recoils pretty gently because it is a low pressure cartridge. It's almost like shooting an SMG IRL. Pre-12.12 recoil was perfect, but Nikita figured it was "unbalanced" and upped recoil. How does "balance" ever enter into the equation when we're trying to replicate reality? Real life is unfair. If I were up against a VSS in close quarters, I'd be pretty terrified in reality since it's a vicious close range weapon with armor penetrating capability and controllable recoil. This used to be true in-game, but now it is not. The VSS/VAL are out of the meta because they got unrealistically nerfed into the dirt. I laugh when I see someone running it.
Why can aramid helmets (Altyn, ZSh, etc.) with plexiglass face shields stop armor piercing rifle rounds? They are only rated for pistols, and are technically only capable of stopping FMJ rifle rounds. The face shields can only stop up to .357 magnum, but in-game they stop rounds like M855a1 with steel penetrators. In fact, if our PMC characters were really hit with a rifle round while wearing these helmets, he would likely suffer deadly trauma even if it were stopped. The tremendous impact force of a rifle round combined with the heavy weight of these helmets would likely cause head fractures, neck fractures, internal bleeding or a severe TBI. There is in fact a reason these helmets are not popular and not often used anymore. The Vulkan-S is particularly problematic because it is so heavy that extended wearing causes neck injuries. Imagine what being clocked by a rifle round would do while a PMC were wearing such a heavy helmet. These days, FAST clones (LShZ) are more popular among Russian special forces as far as I know, even if they are not in wide circulation because they are lightweight and good enough to stop shrapnel or glancing rounds. There is a reason low-cut aramid helmets are "the thing" today.
Why can we stand up and fight while getting pummeled by rifle rounds in our plate carrier? IRL, getting hit causes an instinctive neurological reflex to kick in, which normally forces soldiers to drop to the ground on their side, and that's from only one round. Even if the round is stopped, it takes the wind out of you, and you won't really be combat effective for a while.
Why can PMCs survive being headshotted by a steel penetrator over 100 meters? Why can PMCs survive being winged by a buckshot pellet in the head? Buckshot has the same muzzle energy as one round of .357 magnum.
Why can I heal gunshot wounds using an AI-2? The AI-2 more or less just contains stimulants, painkillers, and radioprotectants. It's a radiological emergency kit, not a trauma care kit. Why can I instantly fix my destroyed limbs and organs with a suture kit? None of this is remotely realistic.
Will that update happen on wipe day?
“Karma” & now radiation? How about optimize the game and fix the servers not that horse shit. “ReAliSm 🤓” lol
Paid DLC is not a good idea, I just dont get why they wouldn’t go the cosmetic route. Armbands, semi-realistic camos for weapons, calling cards? Just seems a way more redeemable route so everyone who pays for the game can play the full thing, and decide if they want any extra cosmetics for shits and giggles.
DLSS only in 2k and 4k? Sux
Y do u think it will wipe in the summer?
why do i need to play 2 – 4K resolution to see improvements…..i guess fuck me i just have to spend 1000+ on a new RTX
Point on no return on Radiation? No thx, getting DC in rad zone = Wipe
I hope radiation sickness only last during the raid not over time to where you would have to reset your entire account
Imagine spending months gathering loot and completing the hardest tasks only for you to have to wipe your account because you got some rads in your balls for 30 seconds 💀
I cannot imagine something worse than ruining your character past the point of no return. I hope that's a sick joke because that's just not it, chief.
